We heard from a veteran who relied on Planned Parenthood for decades.
A mother whose early care allowed her to build a career.
A woman whose access to timely treatment enabled her to start a family.
These are hardworking Mainers whose lives were vastly improved because of PPNNE. (3/5)

Today, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) and I hosted a roundtable discussion with patient advocates to shed light on the devastating impacts Republicans' bill will have on the health and wellbeing of people across the country. (2/5)
🧵
Last week, House Republicans passed a bill that will rip health coverage away from 13.7 million Americans to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.
The bill also specifically prohibits Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood clinics across the country. (1/5)
Many rural hospitals like Inland are already hanging on by a thread. Over 300 across the country are at immediate risk of closing. Slashing Medicaid means fewer providers, shuttered ERs, and entire communities left without care.
But hey, billionaires need their tax breaks, right?!
Northern Light Inland Hospital in Waterville has officially closed its doors. This is a devastating loss for Mainers.
And if House Republicans get their way with $880 billion in Medicaid cuts, it won’t be the last.

We owe it to all our fallen heroes—wherever they called home—to never forget their sacrifice, and to always look after the loved ones they left behind.
This is what #MemorialDay is really about. 🇺🇸
A day to honor heroes like Specialist Joseph Alan Lucas of Bath, who was killed in Iraq at just 23, and Specialist Wade Slack of Waterville, who died in Afghanistan shortly after turning 21. Both gave their lives in service to our country—making the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we hold dear.
For most Americans, #MemorialDay is about backyard BBQs, trips to the lake, + being with loved ones.
For many, however, it’s a day of remembrance. A day to honor the brave people left home to defend their families and communities—and our freedoms—from those who would do us harm.
Less than 24 hours after Republicans passed his “Big Beautiful Bill” without a single Democratic vote, jeopardizing the health and wellbeing of millions of Americans, President Trump is hosting a secret dinner for “investors” of his meme coin.
The corruption is simply staggering.
I am horrified by last night’s murder of two Israeli Embassy staffers—a terrible tragedy and act of antisemitic violence that must be condemned in the strongest terms.
My thoughts are with the victims’ loved ones, the entire Jewish community, and all those affected by this horrific attack.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social fought tirelessly to expose + oppose this bill at every turn.
The American people deserve to understand what happened today: House Republicans deliberately chose their ultra-rich donors over the well-being and financial security of everyday Americans.
My full statement:
The CBO has weighed in on the Big Bad Billionaire Bill:
If your income is in the bottom 10%? Tough!
The top 10%? You’re cashing in!
It'd be one of the largest transfers of wealth in U.S. history.
Republicans are abandoning the people they claim to represent—just to make the rich even richer.
If Republicans pass this disastrous bill:
🚨 50,000 Mainers will get kicked off their health care.
🚨 Children in our state will go hungry.
🚨 The rich will get richer.
🚨 The poor will get poorer.
🚨 The deficit will grow by $4 trillion.
No wonder they met in the middle of the night to finalize it.
I’m heartbroken by the passing of my good friend and colleague, Gerry Connolly. Gerry and I came to Congress together. He was a fighter, a hard worker, and cared deeply about the people he served.
My thoughts are with his family, his staff, and all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
The Interior Department is supposed to protect our natural resources and cultural heritage.
Instead, it’s partnered with DOGE to cancel grants, fire employees, and abandon Tribal communities.
@democrats-appropriations.house.gov are calling on Sec. Burgum to uphold the department’s mission.
Time and again, this Administration has shown it’ll go to any length to deport people on a whim. No matter how illegal or inhumane their methods.
Time and again, the courts have told it to follow the law.
Enough.
These charges must be dropped—and the Administration must follow the law. (3/3)
By law, members of Congress are allowed to inspect ICE facilities. It’s the definition of oversight.
We don't need an appointment.
We don't need the President’s approval.
Rep. McIver was protecting her constituents. She was demanding answers. She was doing her job.
We proudly stand by her. (2/3)
The charges brought against Rep. McIver are outrageous.
The Administration is clearly trying to stop House Democrats from exercising one of our fundamental constitutional powers: oversight of executive agencies.
This is a blatant attack on the separation of powers.
It won’t work. (1/3)
I hope this response was a mistake. If not, we are dealing with a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means to protect the health and safety of all Americans.
They are sovereign nations with legal rights that this Administration cannot simply dismiss. If the EPA cannot grasp this basic fact, then we have a much bigger problem on our hands.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
