My team is in touch with people close to the family of Carlos Menjivar and closely monitoring the situation surrounding his detainment. As a mom, my heart breaks for kids who are separated from their parents, and we are looking into next best steps for the Menjivar family.
The way that Senator Padilla was treated today at a press conference in California is disgraceful. I join my fellow members of Congress in demanding answers regarding the highly concerning treatment of a sitting Senator in his own state. Chaos and violence are never the answer.
9 years ago, the LGBTQ+ community was the target of a devastating act of hate when 49 people were murdered at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. As we mourn and remember those stolen that night, I remain committed to ending anti-LGBTQ+ and gun violence however I can.
It’s an all-too-familiar story as Republicans do nothing to address the high cost of living for everyday Americans, and instead choose to give massive breaks for their billionaire buddies.
I stood alongside colleagues from both sides of the aisle to honor the lives of Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, the innocent Jewish individuals taken far too soon from us by an act of senseless violence. Hate and antisemitism have no place in our society.
As the first mom to represent West Michigan in Congress, I’m a fierce advocate for our kids. Thank you to the Children’s Advocacy Center for your tireless work to seek justice for child victims of sexual assault.
Since the Equal Pay Act was signed into law in 1963, women have made strides as working mothers, leaders of industry, and entrepreneurs. Let's follow in the footsteps of the women before us who helped craft this important legislation by continuing to work toward a more equal and just future for all.
While major flight delays today have me still trying to get to Washington, I join with my colleagues tonight who are condemning the horrific antisemitic attacks in Colorado and Washington. Hate has no place in our communities and must be rooted out wherever it is found.
As Congress sorts through its priorities for the 2025 Farm Bill, I’m making sure that members of West Michigan’s agriculture community have a seat at the table. Great to meet with the National Grain and Feed Association to hear more about their important work.
My bill, the Integrity in Government Act, would protect nonpartisan watchdogs from political retaliation and place a permanent, independent IG inside the Executive Office of the President. Our bills make it clear that the American people are the ultimate authority in our democracy.
Democrats are standing together to End Corruption Now. My colleagues and I announced the introduction of a group of bills that would bring accountability to our government — no matter who’s in office.
Happy #NationalFishingAndBoatingWeek! Did you know that recreational fishing in MI-03 provides $191 Million to our local economy and supports over 1,200 jobs?! It’s FIN-tastic! Make sure to stay safe out there on the water, West Michigan.
