Speaking of death, fast forward to 2025 and Republicans pass a law that guts Medicaid, closing 1 in 4 nursing homes.
Their misinformation campaign worked then. Where is the Democratic information campaign today?

I just finished my 3rd 4th of July parade in Rockford with the Winnebago County Democrats and ran into my colleague @ericsorensen.bsky.social

My statement after voting no on this bill:
Did you know that 1/3 of our neighbors in IL-17 utilize Medicaid?
Did you know that we’re voting on a bill that will drastically cut services?
I will vote NO on GOP’s ‘Big Billionaire Bailout’ because I’m fighting for my neighbors – not the filthy rich who don’t need a tax break at your expense.
I don’t hate that.
And I don’t think many people realize how nursing homes work. You sell your home and then those assets pay a percentage with Medicaid and Medicare picking up the rest. Without Medicaid, only the wealthy seniors who can reverse-mortgage or sell estates will live out their years comfortably. 2/2

It’s not about saying you do the work, it’s showing the results. I grew up in Winnebago County and my parents didn’t fear for my safety. Moms and Dads should know they have security in their neighborhoods and I’m proud to have secured federal funding to help build a law enforcement training center.
