Last week, I called on Trump to go on national TV and explain why he’s asking Congress for $200 billion to fund the war in Iran while American families can’t afford to cover their basic expenses. I will be watching tonight to see what the president says.
Trump’s latest attack on mail-in voting is yet another act of desperation from someone on the verge of losing power. We will continue fighting in court to stop this blatant attempt to keep Americans from the ballot box.
President Trump signed an executive order aimed at tightening mail-in voting rules nationwide that would direct his administration to create a list of confirmed U.S. citizens eligible to vote in each state.
On Farmworkers Day, we honor the hardworking men & women who help feed our nation & keep California’s agricultural economy strong.    The farmworker movement has always been bigger than any one person, & today we reaffirm our commitment to fighting for dignity, safety, & fair treatment on the job.

The Speaker does not need Trump’s permission to take up the Senate’s bipartisan bill to fund the TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA, and our cybersecurity professionals. His failure to act is irresponsible. Trump and Johnson own this shutdown and the chaos it has unleashed on the public.
As the cost of living continues to rise, food banks play an essential role in helping families afford food and keep up with other basic expenses. I’m grateful to the River City Food Bank team, volunteers, and community partners for their work to help keep Sacramento families well-fed and supported.
I recently visited River City Food Bank in Sacramento to see firsthand the vital work they are doing for families across Sacramento County. In 2025 alone, River City Food Bank provided nearly 3.2 million pounds of food to more than 320,000 people in Sacramento County.
We are nearly one month into this war and we still do not have clear answers from this Administration about why we are at war with Iran.  I joined @houseforeign.bsky.social in voting to subpoena Sec. Rubio, Witkoff, and Kushner to appear before our committee and answer to the American people.
As co-chair of the Tuberculosis Elimination Caucus, I am proud to lead more than 130 Members of Congress in a bipartisan effort to fund programs that detect, treat, and ultimately eradicate TB at home and abroad.
How ICE conducted itself in this incident adds to a growing list of reasons why this agency is out of control under this Administration and must be reined in. The American people expect law enforcement to act with professionalism, restraint, and respect for basic human dignity.
I’m deeply disturbed by the video of a Sacramento mother being arrested by ICE at San Francisco International Airport in front of her daughter. No child should have to see a parent taken away like that, and no family should be subjected to this treatment.
Taiwan’s success as a vibrant democracy and critical partner in the Indo-Pacific stands as an example to the world. I look forward to continuing to lead bipartisan efforts in Congress to support Taiwan’s security, prosperity, and meaningful participation on the world stage.
Congratulations to the people of Taiwan on 30 years of democratic presidential elections! This milestone is a testament to the strength of Taiwan’s democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the will of its people.
But because President Trump and Congressional Republicans refuse to restore ACA subsidies, millions of Americans are facing skyrocketing premiums, and far too many are being priced out of coverage altogether.
For 16 years, the Affordable Care Act has helped millions of Americans access health care and avoid devastating medical bills. As a doctor, I’ve seen firsthand what that peace of mind means for families.

Thank you to Sacramento County Supervisor Rich Desmond, Friends of Sailor Bar, the American River Bike Patrol, and Sacramento County Regional Parks for their partnership and for helping make this day possible.
