Over the weekend, my office hosted a ceremony to honor veterans of the Vietnam War for their heroic service and pay tribute to their selfless contributions. We owe our veterans the highest level of appreciation for their sacrifices to our nation.
I led 39 House Democrats in a letter to Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon demanding DOE immediately restore the shuttered Office for Civil Rights hubs and fulfill its statutory civil rights mandate. These cuts will make our schools less safe for vulnerable students across the country.

Saturday was Independent Book Store Day. I enjoyed visiting Anderson’s Bookshop in Downers Grove, where I learned about their Banned Book Club and how Congress can support small businesses.
I recently visited Bickford Senior Living in Tinley Park. We discussed their value-based care model, which helps health care providers coordinate care to enhance the well-being of seniors.

Earlier this week, I visited the DuPage Senior Citizens Council in Lombard. We discussed the immense value of the Meals on Wheels Program, which provides meals and well-being checks for seniors in our community.
