In signing our bill into law, we have helped open the curtains into this complicated process and, in doing so, we’re making grants more competitive and more accessible to persons who do not have the same types of resources to navigate the labyrinth that is federal grants.
One of the most common issues I hear from constituents and organizations in Texas’s 30th Congressional District is how complicated and confusing the federal grant process is and the lack of transparency regarding how the government reviews and decides on their application.
Freedom isn't free, and Syrians have paid a heavy price to send Bashar al-Assad and his murderous, authoritarian government packing. Syrians have hard work ahead to rebuild their institutions, economy, and security, but the future of Syria must be theirs to decide.
The 14th Amendment granted citizenship for those born or naturalized in the U.S. - including the formerly enslaved. Chipping away at the 14th is a threat to ALL - immigrant families, naturalized citizens, and millions of descendants of those held in the bonds of slavery.

On Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we pause to honor the 2,403 lives lost—soldiers, sailors, and civilians—whose sacrifices echo through history. 83 years later, their courage and sacrifice still hit us in the heart. We remember them, not just as numbers, but as real people who gave everything.
Let's Go Texas!! So proud of my friend and our new Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair @repcasar.bsky.social. As a fellow Texan, Greg knows how to stand up for working people against far-right extremism and corporate interests. So excited to work alongside you in the 119th Congress!
Coming off the heels of what would have been the 100th birthday of cofounder of the Congressional Black Caucus and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. member Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, the CBC has elected our Soror, Rep. Yvette D. Clarke. I’m excited to support her in every way!
NO. /nō/ 69 years ago today, the Montgomery Bus Boycott put America on notice: Black people were tired of giving in. This pivotal stand helped integrate public buses & ignited the Civil Rights Movement. It showed the power of unity & the demand for justice.
Tennessee in the House! Great to catch up with TN State Sen. London Lamar at today's Congressional Black Caucus meeting. She had some jokes about me wearing pink, but AKAs forget DIVAS look good in everything! So I HAD to give some love to her Executive Assistant Katelyn, my Soror!
Happy Founders' Day to the Ice Cold men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. With a legacy of leadership, service, and academic excellence you inspire generations to come. Thank you for your dedication to our communities through years of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, & Love For All Mankind.
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson. Your spirit lives on in the work we do and in the hearts of all who were touched by your greatness. Thank you for everything. You will never be forgotten. (6/6)
As we reflect on her extraordinary contributions, let us honor her memory by carrying forward the torch she lit. May we continue to push for progress, elevate the voices of the unheard, and never forget the power of resilience in the face of adversity. (5/6)
