In July, I joined over 90 of my Democratic colleagues in calling on the Court of Appeals to stop the unlawful agreement between the IRS and ICE, giving immigration enforcement agents access to millions of taxpayers’ confidential records.
Most importantly, we discussed ways we can continue collaborating to uplift their amazing efforts as part of the House Natural Resources Committee.
Thank you to the Conservancy’s Board of Directors for inviting me to give updates about my work to protect the Bay in Congress and discuss ways we can strengthen the Chesapeake National Recreation Area and improve data collection and technology for conservation.
For over 15 years, @chesconserv.bsky.social has worked tirelessly on land conservation and watershed restoration efforts to improve the health of our Chesapeake Bay - and they’ve been my partner in adding the strongest data to build the strongest policy possible.
Now more than ever we should remember those values and find what collectively unites in Congress, in our communities, and across our country rather than what divides us.
Political divisions are at a boiling point in this country. Our nation was founded on the values of free speech and democracy – encouraging disagreement and accountability through our voices and our vote rather than through violence.
For the past 238 years, the Constitution has upheld our most fundamental rights & values, guiding our government through checks & balances during some of our darkest moments in history. That’s why I’ve joined @repbonnie.bsky.social & Congressman Aderholt’s resolution to make today Constitution Day.
In 1786, our Founders met right here in Annapolis and decided our nation needed a new system of government to form a more perfect Union. After over a year of debate and compromises, they signed one of the most influential documents in American history in Philadelphia: the U.S. Constitution.

Exempting the DoD from compliance with the Endangered Species Act would remove our military’s unique advantage to navigate these realistic environments, harming our military readiness.
The Department of Defense covers millions of acres of natural habitats on its bases – habitats that are used by our military to train in realistic environments.

🗳️Today is National Voter Registration Day – AND if you’re in Annapolis, it’s Election Day! Our Founders fought for our fundamental right to democratically elect our leaders and thousands fought over the last three centuries to expand that right for more Americans.
