Today, we honor not only their sacrifice, but our strength as a nation to come together and adapt in the face of that tragedy. Let us never forget.

Every year, I re-read this Times article, and each time, I am struck by the stories of courageous individuals and first responders who stepped up to defend their neighbors and our nation in one of our most frightening moments.
"On a normal day, we value heroism because it is uncommon. On Sept. 11, we valued heroism because it was everywhere."
I am disappointed this year’s NDAA provided no protections against U.S. troops being used on U.S. civilians and no checks on the President’s powers. See my full statement above.
Today, after careful consideration, I voted against the NDAA. This was not the vote I hoped to take. House Republicans walked away from nine months of bipartisan, good-faith negotiations in committee.
This is horrific. Political violence is never acceptable. I join my colleagues in praying for Charlie Kirk and his loved ones.
My colleagues and I worked together for nine months to work on this legislation, which is why I am now pleading with my Republican colleagues to ensure this process remains bipartisan. We should never play politics with our troops and civilian workforce.
54 days ago, the NDAA passed out of committee with bipartisan support, filled with provisions to better the lives of our servicemembers and improve our military readiness.
I’ve joined my @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues along with the Reproductive Caucus, House Veterans’ Affairs Democrats, & Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Democrats to urge the Trump Administration to withdraw this harmful attack on health care access to our veterans & their family members.
Yet, the Trump Administration’s VA has proposed returning to a near-total abortion ban – including in cases of rape, incest, or health endangerment – that could prevent more than 2 million veterans from accessing these services.
Our veterans have sacrificed everything to serve our country, the least we can do is provide them with the quality care they deserve.
I’m grateful I could stop by our team’s meeting with the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange to discuss how we can work together to ensure all Marylanders have the life-saving care they need.
More than 190,000 Marylanders rely on lower premiums from enhanced tax credits to access affordable health care – but these credits will expire at the end of 2025 because of President Trump’s Big Ugly Law.
Let's be clear: detaining people without probable cause at car washes, bus stops, and Home Deport parking lots based on racial stereotypes should never be the law of our land. We cannot let partisan politics come before the fundamental right to due process and liberty.
One thing is clear: the Trump Administration’s reckless economic policies are harming our economy.
Last month, President Trump fired the BLS Commissioner, claiming they manipulated data to reflect poorly on his economic policies. Now – even after this partisan firing – the August Job Report has shown that the economy only added 22,000 jobs, marking the first job loss since the pandemic.
Team Elfreth is taking over to wish Sarah a very happy birthday! We hope you’ll join us in celebrating her on this special day! 🎂🥳
Instead of taking accountability, Secretary Kennedy has doubled down on these stances before Congress. Our scientific experts deserve our full support, and fighting for them means fighting to protect the health of our nation.
Since his appointment, HHS Secretary Kennedy has undermined our scientific experts & cast doubt on the agency – questioning CDC data on COVID deaths, making blatantly false, harmful statements about people on the autism spectrum, & repeatedly questioning the value of lifesaving vaccines.
