It undermines the economic power of hardworking #WA03 families and increases the red tape separating us from durable health – all to advance the short-term wealth of the well-to-do. ⬇️

This bill is a bloated product of single-party control and a concoction of special favors for special interests – and it leaves everyday Americans carrying the bag. ⬇️
328,695 people in our state stand to lose healthcare, and rural hospitals across #WA03 would lose tens of millions of dollars – which could put these vital lifelines at risk for collapse.
Not to mention, the bill still drives up costs for energy and healthcare premiums. ⬇️
It strips even more Americans of healthcare coverage, by gutting Medicaid and suffocating hardworking families with even more red tape. ⬇️
It gives even more freebies to the wealthiest Americans, costing the bottom 20% of taxpayers roughly $560 a year to give the top 1% a $32,265 yearly handout. ⬇️
It burdens our kids with even more reckless debt, adding more than $4 trillion to our national debt over the next decade – a $1 trillion increase from the House bill I voted against. ⬇️
Somehow, the Senate managed to make an already-terrible bill even worse for Southwest Washington. 🧵⬇️
Car headlights are too damn bright, and I'm doing something about it.
Brightness has doubled in the last decade due to LEDs, but manufacturing standards haven't budged in 40 years.
Both drivers AND oncoming traffic deserve visibility – & this is a serious issue for seniors and on our rural roads.
If you or a loved one has been affected by the conflict in Ukraine, please visit my website for resources:
Our Ukrainian refugee community has valuable skills that we all can benefit from, and I heard from them about the uncertainty they’ve faced in a chaotic policy process.
Removing these roadblocks not only benefits our region but is also vital to Ukrainians as they fend off invasion and rebuild.
I'll be holding Mobile Office Hours this Thursday in Skamania County!
Stop by the Stevenson Community Library from 11 AM - 1 PM to get help with federal agencies like the VA, IRS, or Social Security Administration.
If you can't make it, you can always reach us at 360-695-6292!
Thank you to our local firefighters for your quick response to this blaze.
We don't have many mills left, so I'm wishing a speedy recovery to all the folks working hard to keep our forest products moving.
To bring down the cost of housing and build wealth in the middle class, we need to be building more durable housing.
I held a roundtable with local home builders to discuss ways to keep up with demand in the fastest growing county in the state & the federal barriers that make development difficult.
I voted against a partisan bill that could strip more than 28,000 folks across #WA03 of their healthcare to pay for handouts to the wealthiest Americans.
I recently visited Sea Mar Community Health – and I heard in the starkest terms who will suffer as a result of these reckless cuts to Medicaid.
This Legislative Branch funding proposal also failed to include my amendment to strengthen ethics guidelines about the mental acuity of Members of Congress — to ensure Americans have faith their elected Representatives are fully in control of their voting decisions:
Despite all the political bluster about taking on waste, the Appropriations Committee still passed this bill that will slash GAO staff by 2,200 and "decimate" their ability to steward your hard-earned tax dollars. ⬇️
🚨 I voted against a bill that would defund one of the most effective watchdogs for auditing waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs by nearly 50%.
For every $1 we invest in the nonpartisan U.S. Government Accountability Office, we get $123 back — totaling $92 billion in savings a year. ⬇️
Great news — I voted this week with my bipartisan colleagues to pass this legislation in the House!
I look forward to the Senate continuing to improve this bill to ensure we get the best deal for our heroes.
This isn't a laughing matter, and every citizen in our country deserves to know their representative is showing up for them.
We deserve a reflective, effective, and accountable government — so I'll keep working at this.
No member of Congress unable to cognitively perform their duties should be able to hide behind their staff.
Everyday Americans see it — and I know my colleagues do as well.
Yet, my amendment was just shot down to ensure members of Congress can actually fulfill their oath of office. ⬇️
