I led a letter to CMS last year calling out their efforts to weaponize our health data, destroying public trust and breaking federal law.

All families deserve to see a doctor without fearing government surveillance.
According to a court filing, HHS leaked Medicaid data to ICE, violating the privacy of Medicaid enrollees and putting the health and wellbeing of millions at risk. 🧵
Republicans are celebrating one year since the Big Ugly Law, a horrible piece of legislation that steals from hardworking people and gives more to the wealthy.
In my district alone, 27,000 people will pay more for their healthcare, while another 31,000 people could lose their coverage entirely.
From neighborhood playgrounds and forest preserves to the Pullman National Historical Park, our parks connect us to nature, our history, and each other.
I'm proud that Illinois' Second District is home to so many incredible places to explore this National Parks and Recreation Month.
Republicans cut Medicaid by $880 billion.
It’s cruel.
It’s evil.
It’s against our mandate as public servants.
I will not remain silent while Republicans continue to take away healthcare access.
Medicaid saves lives. Period.
Imagine what we could accomplish if Republicans and Trump put Americans first instead of wasting billions on chosen wars and vanity projects.
That money could strengthen our schools, lower costs, expand healthcare, and invest in our communities.
Taking food away from hungry children isn't cutting waste, fraud, or abuse. It is just plain cruel.
Trump and Republicans cut $187 BILLION from food assistance because they'd rather reward the wealthy than help struggling families put dinner on the table.
I've heard from too many seniors who are worried about gun violence, Medicaid, and Social Security.
After a lifetime of hard work, they deserve security and peace of mind.
Millions of Americans are struggling to afford basic necessities and a roof over their heads.
Meanwhile, Trump says the housing affordability crisis is “so unimportant” and “a big yawn.” He can barely manage to stay awake—much less lower costs for Americans.
Thank you to the APA for the 2025 Jacob Javits Public Service Award. I will continue my fight to ensure every family can access the healthcare and substance use care they need.
Your family is paying more because of the Republican inability to stand up to President Trump.
They are complicit in allowing Trump’s tariffs and war in Iran to continue.
Reminder!
This Wednesday, July 8th, I will host mobile office hours at the Rantoul Business Center. If you need assistance with a federal agency, my staff will be there to assist you.

As we mark the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we reflect on the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity that define America.
We also recognize the gap between those ideals and lived reality for many.
I will continue fighting to ensure everyone can fully share in them.

Happy Independence Day!
Today, we celebrate our country, our community, and the shared values that bring us together as we continue to fight for a more perfect union.
Four years ago today, Highland Park was changed forever when a gunman shot and killed 7 people and injured 48 more.
I will continue my fight until we are free from gun violence at a parade, on the sidewalk, in our homes, at school, and in our communities.
House Republicans passed Trump’s Big Ugly Law one year ago. It’s a deadly attack on public health.
Cuts to Medicaid will rip away healthcare, close local hospitals, and overwhelm emergency rooms.
Trump and his allies are playing politics with your healthcare.

Trump is wasting millions of taxpayer dollars.
That money should’ve made healthcare more affordable for millions or helped lower costs for hardworking families.
Instead, he's spending it on himself and vanity projects.
For nearly a century, handguns have been barred from USPS mail to keep us safe.
Now we know why the Trump Admin wants to rip up that rule: to line his family’s pockets. We can't gut background checks just so Trump can profit.
