I was proud to stand with @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and my colleagues to say in one clear voice that Congress should not leave for the holidays without acting to lower healthcare costs.
Speaker Johnson must put the ACA tax credit extension vote on the floor today.
Not next year.
Today.
It’s completely unacceptable that 164,000 of my constituents will see their healthcare costs skyrocket because @SpeakerJohnson took the vote off the table this week.
If you don't even have "concepts of a plan" then maybe it's time to work with Democrats to make one.
Wishing everyone out there a very happy and safe Hanukkah. I hope this year’s Festival of Lights brings you strength, healing, and brighter days ahead.
We have repeated these words for years, and nothing changes. Washington cannot keep offering thoughts and prayers while refusing to act. Lives depend on it, and they depend on us doing better today — not someday.
Mass shootings are a plague in this country. Our kids should not have to weigh their safety every time they go to school, meet friends at a mall, or sit down in a movie theater. Families should not have to fear that a normal day could end in tragedy.
I’m relieved to hear the suspect has been captured after last night’s horrific shooting at Brown University. This is a trauma no community should ever have to endure, and my community of Parkland knows all too well that an arrest does not erase the pain or bring back the lives that were taken.
🚨REMINDER🚨
December 7th is the LAST DAY for Medicare Open Enrollment!
Whether you’re reviewing your options, comparing benefits, or switching plans, there’s still time!
Head over to medicare.gov/health-drug-plans/open-enrollment this week to make sure your coverage is set for the coming year!
On this Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for the friends and family who fill our lives with joy and compassion. This holiday is a moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate the little things that matter most. Happy Thanksgiving!
Storms in Florida are getting costlier every year, and families are paying for it in skyrocketing insurance costs.
So today I reintroduced my bill to lower what you pay for home insurance. Hurricanes are already a disaster, insurance shouldn't be one too.
It took the Speaker 50 days, but @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social is finally "Rep." instead of "Rep.-elect," and she’s going to be a great one for the people of Arizona’s 7th Congressional District.
Looking forward to working together!
Our veterans represent the very best America has to offer. Our nation would be nothing without the courage of those who’ve served in uniform.
On Veterans Day, let’s reaffirm our commitment to never stop fighting for those who fought for us. America stands taller because of you.
With her retirement, the institution is losing a powerhouse, and whoever follows her to represent San Francisco has big shoes (or stilettos) to fill.
Nancy Pelosi is the greatest Speaker of all time.
For decades, Speaker Emerita Pelosi has led House Democrats with dignity, respect, and nerves of steel. She is never afraid to take on big challenges, and our country is better off because of it
On Saturday, the nearly three million Floridians who rely on SNAP to feed their families won’t receive the food assistance they’re counting on.
As I continue to press for a solution to get SNAP benefits flowing again, know that there are resources here in South Florida to help.
Happy Halloween, Florida!
For any families going out trick-or-treating, remember these terrifying tips to stay safe on this spooky night:
Trick-or-Treaters:
🎃 Wear bright clothing
🎃 Cross at crosswalks
🎃 Watch for traffic
Motorists:
🚘 DRIVE SLOWLY
When I was Florida’s emergency management director, I was proud to work with first responders across our state, and today, I’m proud to have their backs in Congress.
This First Responders Day, join me to honor these brave men and women who are always looking out for FL families.
I had the privilege to visit HCA Florida Northwest Hospital and see firsthand the kind of quality care they deliver for families across South Florida.
Health care should be affordable and accessible for everyone who walks through these doors—and I’m fighting to make sure it is.
More people in South Florida get health care through the ACA exchange than anywhere else in America. If ACA tax credits expire, lifesaving coverage will become unaffordable for millions overnight.
Congress can’t let this happen—come back to the table, and let’s work out a deal.
My prayers are with the people of Jamaica and their families as Hurricane Melissa makes landfall as a Category 5 storm.
Over 300,000 Jamaican Americans call Florida home, and my office is prepared to help in any way we can during this horrific time.
Had a great visit to Park Trails Elementary to share a meal with students, teachers, and my friend Lori Alhadeff and see their lunch program up close.
Our kids are the future, and federal funding is crucial to delivering them the nutrition and resources their education needs.
