No matter your political affiliation, decency matters.
To celebrate the death of a veteran and public servant is unconscionable for anyone, let alone the President.
I am thinking of Robert Mueller’s family today as they grieve his passing and honor his memory.
I was proud to connect with members of the Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed and Choose Clean Water Coalition because clean water—whether for drinking, recreation, or farming—is essential for the health and economic well-being of my neighbors.
In downtown Smyrna, I visited Elizabeth Esther Cafe at Cobalt Manor—a family home, once condemned and newly restored and turned into a thriving small business, infusing a family’s property with new purpose.
I was grateful for the opportunity to meet with the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League (MWUL)’s Gilliam Fellows—alongside the MWUL’s Advocacy Manager and Wilmington City Councilman Coby Owens, these fellows are advocating for our neighbors in big ways and they are making Delaware proud.
2/ Our conversation focused on how to deliver real solutions for farmers and to ensure, no matter your acreage, that you can earn a living wage and provide for your family.
1/ As costs are rising, our farmers are bearing the brunt of those prices.
Recently, I brought together farmers, ag leaders, students, and local elected officials for a first-of-its-kind Agricultural Summit in Harrington to address the needs facing Delaware’s ag industry.
2/ If Republicans are serious about ensuring the security of the homeland, then they need to join us and condemn this chaos.
1/ TSA agents are working without pay because Congressional Republicans refuse to take action and rein in ICE and their cruelty.
Last night, I signed a discharge petition to force a vote on a bill to pay TSA agents, FEMA, and the Coast Guard—reopening every part of DHS except ICE.
Today, the House Foreign Affairs Committee met for the second time since the president launched his war of choice in Iran.
So, I had to ask: how on earth have we not had a hearing on this illegal war yet?
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Delaware! As you celebrate today, don’t forget to support local small businesses like Sheridan’s Irish Pub in Smyrna—where I learned how to properly pour a Guinness! ☘️
2/ I'm thinking of the Temple Israel community as they recover from this attack, as well as the first responders and law enforcement who acted swiftly.
We cannot become numb to such abhorrent violence, especially in places of worship.
1/ I am grateful to hear that there were no injuries after an attack on Temple Israel Synagogue in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan. Today is a wrenching reminder of the scourge of antisemitism in this country, and it must be condemned in the strongest terms.
3/ I'm proud to be delivering investments to Delaware that build on our longstanding leadership in science and research. I’m committed to making sure Washington builds an innovation eco-system that protects our workers, our small businesses, our health, and our communities.
2/ From chips to financial services to broadband, Delaware has long led the way in harnessing the potential of technology to grow jobs and expand opportunity.
1/ Yesterday morning I joined the Delaware Technology Forum in Wilmington to talk with innovators and entrepreneurs about the future of our economy.
2/ If you see a post from a page you don’t recognize, take a moment to verify it before sharing it. And I'll continue to push for common-sense guard rails and digital citizenship tools to protect all of us from fake or violent content.
1/ Lately, there has been an uptick in fabricated quotes and AI-generated images of me on social media. Even seemingly innocuous quotes can be spread to stoke division and misrepresent perspectives. AI slop on social media is becoming a dangerous vehicle for misinformation.
Delaware is a state of neighbors—which means when we work together, we get things done. I'm grateful to have met with many of the mayors serving coastal Delaware communities to strategize more investment in infrastructure, environmental protection, & the economic vitality of our coastal communities.
2/ The Way Home provides housing assistance, job placement, and mental health and substance use disorder treatment — vital services that help reduce recidivism and ensure people who have served their time can contribute to our communities and our economy.
1/ Great to be in Georgetown today visiting The Way Home, a partner in our efforts to support returning citizens in Sussex County.
