3 years ago, Congress voted to honor the officers who defended our democracy on January 6th with a memorial plaque in the Capitol. Yet Republicans are ignoring the law and refusing to install it. In its absence, we are hanging replicas—because heroism deserves more than silence.
For 53 years, Title IX has stood as a beacon of opportunity—opening doors for countless women in classrooms, on the field and throughout society. Today, we honor those who paved the way and reaffirm our efforts to preserve all that they achieved to empower generations of women.
Tonight, the President ignored the Constitution by unilaterally engaging our military without Congressional authorization. I join my colleagues in demanding answers from the Administration on this operation which endangers American lives and risks further escalation & destabilization of the region.
On #WorldRefugeeDay, we honor the resilience of refugees around the world building a safer and more prosperous future for themselves and their families. By opening our arms and hearts to welcome them, we remind the world what it means to be a nation of immigrants.
Today, we commemorate an important milestone on America's long road toward liberty and justice for all. #Juneteenth is not only a reminder of slavery's stain on the soul of our nation and a celebration of freedom—but an opportunity to recommit our fight for a more perfect union.
Right now, Senate Republicans are making Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill even uglier—increasing cuts to SNAP & Medicaid. While working families would lose access to food and health care, billionaires and big corporations get new tax breaks. Democrats are united in our fight to stop it.
Gathered in fellowship, they were praying. Then hatred and gunfire shattered the peace of Mother Emanuel.   As the pain endures ten years later, so does the resolve. For the nine lives stolen in Charleston and their loved ones, we will keep fighting until we end gun violence.

Thank you @pelosi.house.gov for meeting with our colleague Jaime, a Georgia #DACA recipient, for a conversation highlighting the 13th anniversary of DACA and the urgent need to pass legislation that provides Dreamers and DACA recipients like Jaime with a pathway to citizenship!
To all the fathers, grandfathers and father figures who lead with love and strength, thank you for guiding and inspiring. From my family to yours, Happy Father’s Day!
Our prayers go out to the families of the victims, their friends and supporters in Minnesota with the certainty that the assassin in this heinous act will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Unfortunately, we know the tragedy of when political violence hits home very well. All of us must remember that it’s not only the act of violence, but also the reaction to it, that can normalize it. This climate of politically-motivated violence must end.
Paul and I are heartbroken by targeted shootings in the homes of MN Senator Hoffman, Speaker Emerita Hortman and their spouses which are a shocking and abhorrent manifestation of political violence in our country.

Yesterday, @tokuda.house.gov, @pelosi.house.gov, CEC Chair @repmarktakano.bsky.social, & @replsimon.bsky.social led 66 other Members of Congress in demanding Secretary Hegseth rescind the decision to rename the USNS Harvey Milk. More at the link in our bio.

Jill Tokuda (HI-02), Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (CA-11), CEC Chair Mark Takano (CA-39), and Rep. Lateefah Simon (CA-12) led 66 other Members of Congress in a letter to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth demanding that he rescind his order to rename the USNS Harvey Milk and reported plans to rename other vessels named after prominent civil rights leaders. This assault is not only on @padilla.senate.gov, but on freedom of speech and expression in our country. These actions taken by Trump’s DHS communicates a message to all Americans that none of us is safe.
Senator Padilla is forcibly shoved out of Kristi Noem's press briefing: "I'm Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the Secretary"
The Trump Administration's actions in Los Angeles are a dangerous abuse of power which inflames tensions and undermines public safety.   House Democrats from California are united in standing against the President's blatant and unconstitutional overreach in our state.
The Trump Administration’s escalation and provocation inflames tensions and incites violence. The American people must be able to exercise their Constitutional right to lawfully and peacefully protest. We must shine a bright light on this Administration’s tactics so freedom of speech prevails.
Now we see the President of the United States say he’d arrest a sitting American governor for disagreeing with these actions. This is a hallmark of authoritarianism on the road to tyranny – and all Americans should be shocked and appalled by the President’s blatant disregard for our Constitution.
The ongoing arrests in California of families and children obeying the law are evidence of a broader pattern of ICE’s renegade behavior across the country. The resulting peaceful demonstrations against these actions are a manifestation of understandable fear in our communities.
81 years ago, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy with unmatched courage to liberate Europe from tyranny and fascism. Today, we honor their heroism on D-Day, reflect on the cost of freedom and rededicate ourselves to defending democracy in our time.
