Trump’s sweeping tariffs were reckless, unconstitutional and costly for America's working families.
Today, SCOTUS rightfully struck them down, upholding the Constitution and rejecting an abuse of executive power that unlawfully taxed millions of Americans.
Trump’s $600 million cut to public health grants threatens essential care for millions, including HIV testing and treatment.
Today, I spoke with community leaders at the SF LGBT Center about these reckless, politically driven cuts and how Democrats are fighting back.
Heartbroken by the tragic avalanche at Lake Tahoe. Our prayers are with the survivors and the families who lost loved ones, including those from our San Francisco community.
We are grateful to the first responders who risked their safety carrying out rescue efforts.
Ramadan Mubarak to Muslim families in San Francisco and around the world!
May this Holy Month bring peace, wisdom, and blessings through the reflection and spiritual renewal that make #Ramadan so meaningful.
#LunarNewYear is a time of renewal, reflection and hope, rooted in traditions that strengthen both families and communities alike.
I join those celebrating in San Francisco and around the world in wishing health, prosperity and peace in the Year of the Horse ahead.
And may it be a comfort to his wife Jackie, their five children Santita, former Congressman Jesse, Jr., Congressman Jonathan, Yusef and Jacqueline that so many across America and around the world mourn their loss and pray for them at this sad time.
As a longtime friend of him and his family, I was saddened to learn of Jesse’s passing and pray his loved ones are encouraged that his life and leadership continue to inspire a generation of change-makers and leaders.
Jesse Jackson strengthened the civil rights movement by making it bigger and more inclusive, forging a rainbow coalition of the working poor, communities of color, women, LGBTQ Americans and so many others striving for a better future. Reverend Jackson never gave up the fight for progress.
In his 1984 convention speech, he famously said, ‘Our flag is red, white and blue, but our nation is a rainbow, and we're all precious in God's sight.’ As chair of that convention in San Francisco, I saw firsthand how tremendously his remarks were received for what they meant for the country.
His lifelong advocacy for civil rights, economic opportunity and social justice—as a political leader and preacher, organizer and orator, statesman and trusted counselor—made America more inclusive, strong and good.
Today, America has lost Reverend Jesse Jackson: a patriot who had the love in his heart to preach a gospel of hope, and the courage in his soul to challenge our nation to truly live up to its ideals.
On #PresidentsDay, we honor those who understood that the presidency must be grounded in the Constitution, the rule of law and respect for our democracy.
The greatness of America has always depended on leaders knowing the office’s power comes from the people, for the people.

Eight years ago, the Parkland community was forever changed when the lives of 17 students and educators were taken in a devastating act of gun violence.
Today, we honor their memories and hold close all those who continue to carry the weight of that horrific day.

It was a pleasure to meet with the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium yesterday, which delivers care to over 110,000 San Franciscans.
As Republicans enact cruel health care cuts, we are fighting to strengthen Community Health Centers and defend access to affordable care.
China’s sentencing of Jimmy Lai to 20 years in prison is a grave injustice and a direct assault on freedom of the press and the rule of law.
The world must speak with one voice: this outrageous political persecution must end and Jimmy Lai must be released immediately.
As the eyes of the nation descend on San Francisco for #SuperBowlLX, it has been refreshing to see many learn what we have always known: the Bay Area is bold, beautiful and full of heart.
From our neighborhoods to our people, the San Francisco Bay Area is truly Heaven on Earth.
With the #WinterOlympics underway in Milan, I’m wishing the best to our incredible athletes representing the San Francisco Bay Area and communities across our country on Team USA.
Your dedication and hard work make us proud, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!
