This weekend, Trump is trying to rededicate America as a "Christian Nation". How about we rededicate ourselves back to reality?  250 years ago, our founders created America to be free from religion. And my colleagues in the Freethought Caucus have the receipts.
I spoke with an ICE whistleblower who was instructed to teach agents that they could enter homes without a judicial warrant. The public deserves answers.
We all need to be talking about Trump’s proposed $1.5 trillion war budget! At a time when families are paying more to put food on the table, gas in the car, and get the healthcare they deserve, this budget proposal is a giveaway to defense contractors at the expense of the American people.
The American people are tired of presidents abusing their power by spending billions of our taxpayer dollars on unnecessary wars. I’ve been fighting for these basic checks and balances for years and will continue to defend our Constitution.
Today, I voted YES on the latest War Powers Resolution to end Trump's illegal war in Iran. The Constitution is clear: only Congress has the power to declare war. Unfortunately, not enough House Republicans voted for this and it failed.
I’m excited to see the progress made on what will be Madison’s first homeless shelter for men, providing a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment for Madison's most vulnerable. I was honored to secure $2 million in federal funds to help make this 44,000+ square feet shelter come to life!
Republicans in Congress let the ACA tax credits expire. Now premiums have skyrocketed, and more than one in five Americans enrolled in an ACA plan simply can’t pay. We need to bring back the tax credits and make healthcare more affordable for every American! www.notus.org/healthcare/a...
Today, I offered an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, & Science funding bill to prohibit the Trump administration from targeting any person or organization solely for exercising their constitutionally-protected First Amendment rights. Every Republican in Committee voted no. (3/3)
Those are vague and undefined terms, and this directive is a clear effort to silence criticism and dissent by infringing on Americans' freedom of speech. (2/3)
Last fall, the Trump administration issued an Orwellian directive called NSPM-7 which would allow them to investigate anyone they deem to be "anti-Christian," "anti-capitalist," or "anti-American," for domestic terrorism. (1/3)
Thanks to a whistleblower, we now know ICE was inadequately training new agents and teaching practices that violate the Fourth Amendment. On today’s podcast, I spoke with @ryanschwank.bsky.social, who blew the lid off their training failures. youtu.be/tDFe_nmZqXo
🏎️ Running an IndyCar race down Pennsylvania Avenue 🏛️ Putting up a giant arch in his honor ⛳ Converting public golf courses into luxury resorts Priorities. (2/2)
While Americans are seeing rising costs in every aspect of their lives, Trump is focused on… 💰 A $1 billion golden ballroom 🔵 Painting the reflecting pool blue 🥊 Hosting a UFC fight on the White House lawn for his birthday (1/2)
Good news is rare in Washington these days, so watching countless beagles being rescued from Ridglan Farms was a welcome change. I’ll continue working to ensure that what happened at Ridglan never happens again.
Last minute, I went to thank the volunteers from both groups for their work. I’ll continue to fight for loving homes for all these dogs and all the remaining dogs until facilities like these no longer exist.
