Independent musicians are largely powerless to negotiate fair prices for their work from AI and streaming platforms.
My bill, the Protect Working Musicians Act, allows independent artists to band together to negotiate fair compensation for their work.

Trump’s DOJ has accused the Southern Poverty Law Center of funding hate. It's absurd, especially while this admin is set to pay out violent rioters with our tax dollars.
The SPLC fought the KKK and defended our voting rights in NC. These charges are ridiculous and un-American.
You may have heard about Trump's $1.7 billion dollar "slush fund." Here's what that means, and why it's so corrupt:
Trump said he “doesn’t think about Americans’ financial situations" when it comes to the war in Iran.
We didn't need Trump to tell us that he doesn't think about the American people: he launched an illegal war knowing it would drive up prices. It was already crystal clear.
Trump’s DOJ announced a $1.7B slush fund to pay his allies, including Jan 6 rioters. I signed onto an amicus brief to fight this corruption.
This is the one guarantee of this administration: if you suck up to Trump, if you commit crimes in his name, you will be rewarded.

On Tamil Genocide Remembrance Day, I'm joining the Tamil people around the world in mourning the lives tragically taken during Sri Lanka's decades-long Civil War.
Today and every day, we must recognize this tragedy and seek justice for the victims and their families.
"Same fight. New generation."
The voices of black voters are being silenced by Republicans in the South.
Unfortunately, this isn’t new in North Carolina. We cannot give up until we have banned gerrymandering nationwide.

ICE has taken up a tactic of detaining immigrants who report crimes. It's causing violent criminals to go free, and victims are scared to report crimes.
ICE's inhumane tactics are making our country less safe.
Reposted byRepresentative Deborah Ross
Immigrants who are victims of crime are less likely to report it or testify out of fear of being detained.
@ross.house.gov on how the Trump Administration’s reckless immigration policies have made it harder to prosecute criminals:
I guess this is what it looks like when Republicans control Washington…
If Republicans were serious about honoring law enforcement during National Police Week, they wouldn't let Trump pay off the people who beat up law enforcement on January 6th.
Trump calls these convicted criminals ‘patriots’ and gave them a blanket pardon. Now he wants to give them taxpayer dollars.
Over 50K people apply for law enforcement jobs a year, which includes a background check. Yet officers can get hired who shouldn't be: current law blocks key hiring agencies from accessing federal criminal history.
The solution is simple: Give the agencies access to this info.
My bipartisan bill w/ Rep. Derek Schmidt just passed the House unanimously.
The bill grants access to federal criminal records to agencies training + hiring new law enforcement officers. It's a commonsense solution that will strengthen public safety.
A reminder that Congress can get things done.
Families + businesses are hurting from rising gas prices. Trump's attitude? “If they rise, they rise.”
That’s unacceptable. I met with local business and nonprofit leaders to hear how these costs are hurting them and their employees. Washington must end this war + lower prices.
Trump’s budget proposes devastating cuts to National Science Foundation programs at community colleges that prepare students for careers in STEM.
I’ve seen the impact of these NSF grants at Wake Tech, where students are training in AI and automation. I will keep fighting to protect STEM education.
'Right now, I’m fighting to maintain my staff, their quality of life, & I want to give them more,' Hightower said.
Small business owners want to support their employees, but rising costs are making it harder. That’s why I spoke to local leaders about the impact of rising gas costs.
I visited Once in a Blue Moon Bakery during Small Business Week to hear how things are going.
I am working to make sure businesses like hers are able to thrive in this economy.
I’m grateful to our law enforcement for having a security plan to keep our graduates and their families safe this weekend. North Carolina will not tolerate any threats of violence. I’m wishing everyone a safe and joyous weekend.

While gas hovers at $4.20 a gallon, the NC Rail Division is celebrating its 5th year of record ridership.
Train travel is affordable, fun, and better for the planet. I was so grateful to hop aboard the Raleigh-Charlotte line and hear about the amazing work NC Rail is doing.
Partisan gerrymandering has left millions without true representation in Congress, including here in NC.
I’ve introduced a bill to increase transparency and backed legislation to require independent commissions in every state. It just needs Republican support to pass.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
