As we celebrate this 4th of July, we must remember why we celebrate. It was on this day that our nation declared independence from a mad king who abused his power and the people of this land.
Just as in 1776, these grievances remain just as relevant today. Because in America, there are no kings.
Happy Independence Day, everyone!
Today is both a celebration and a reminder of the freedoms we must protect.
I hope you have a happy 4th of July, eat some good food, enjoy the fireworks, and spend time with loved ones! ❤️🤍💙
This is what your Congressmen traded for your healthcare and the dignity of our communities.
Signed DJT merch. Let’s let that sink in.
I know many of you are feeling angry and hopeless. But we must not give up the fight. We must let it fuel our fight — for the future and for our communities. We press on. ❤️
Another HELL NO! on this big ugly abomination of a bill.
Leader @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social takes us home breaking the longest record in American history holding the Floor for the American people. 💪 #ForThePeople
🚨 Trump's big ugly abomination of a bill slashes access to education for students.
🎓 Leaves 4 million students without Pell Grants
🎓 Cuts graduate and student loan programs
Our students deserve better. This is cruelty, and it’s shameful.
I will vote HELL NO.
🚨 Trump's big ugly abomination of a bill guts food assistance for our communities.
🍽️ 18 million children will lose access to food assistance and school meals
🍽️ 3 million seniors, veterans, and vulnerable families will suffer
🍽️ The largest cuts to SNAP in American history
I am voting HELL NO.
🚨 Trump's big ugly abomination of a bill is a direct attack on our healthcare programs.
🩺 17 million Americans will lose access to healthcare
💸 $1.3 TRILLION stripped from Medicaid & Medicare
🚫 Planned Parenthood defunded
I will vote HELL NO as you know.
Trump’s big ugly abomination of a bill gives permanent tax breaks to billionaires and corporations on the backs of working families.
📈 The wealthiest 10% will gain 4% in income.
📉 The poorest 10% will lose 4%.
New Mexico families? Left holding the bag. Again.
We will vote HELL NO.
It’s late Wednesday night and the Speaker just called the vote to get this big, ugly, abomination of a bill voted on the Floor…once again in the dark of night.
Here’s the latest:
Looks like Leadership called their bluff—the vote is called now at 9:30 pm on the rule. Votes on this big ugly abomination of a bill will happen late into the night.
Surprise! Freedom Caucus members are threatening to vote NO on the GOP rule to move the bill (but NOT in the morning? 🤔)
This is political theater.
The deals are cut & they have long abandoned being true fiscal conservatives. They’ll put up a faux fight tonight, but not for our country tomorrow.
While “Fiscal Conservatives” are issuing strongly worded letters to House Leadership (for real, that actually happened) — Republicans have stalled out on the Floor without enough votes to move to the #BigUglyBill. Here’s your mid-afternoon update. ⬇️
Things are stalled out here on the House Floor as Trump tries to arm twist and get Freedom Caucus members onboard with massive deficit spending…
So, Congresswoman Lateefah Simon and I took the opportunity to break down what big ugly bill means for the hard working people of our communities.
It’s 3 AM and I just rolled into DC to vote on this big abomination of a bill passed by the Senate. There’s a lot to be said about this bill. But, I’m ready to vote a Hell NO on it.
It’s bad for our communities.
It’s bad for our kids.
And, it’s bad for our economy.
We’re here for the fight!
With Trump’s big abomination of a bill, more than 17 MILLION Americans could lose healthcare coverage.
In New Mexico, thousands of our friends and neighbors will lose coverage.
This is unconscionable.
Trump’s big abomination of a bill will slash tax credits for families and small business owners who get healthcare coverage through the marketplace.
This will cause premiums to SOAR, leading to more stress and creating yet another barrier that would prevent New Mexicans from getting healthcare.
Trump’s big abomination of a bill will gut rural hospitals. There are 15 rural hospitals right here in New Mexico.
If this bill passes all 15 will be facing the brink.
Our rural families deserve high-quality care in our communities, not to be forced to travel hours to be seen.
