I'm glad to see DTE Energy stepping up with a $15 million donation to help Michigan families stay safe and warm this winter by supporting nonprofits that assist with heating bills. No one should have to choose between heat and putting food on the table, and in Congress.
I voted to lower health care costs because families across West Michigan are already stretched thin. Affordable, reliable care should not be out of reach.
January is National Radon Action Month. Radon is a hidden health risk in homes statewide, and testing is the only way to know if levels are high. Families in West Michigan have opportunities this month to get free radon test kits and learn more about keeping their homes safe.
On National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, we recommit to protecting the most vulnerable. That’s why I introduced the bipartisan Justice for Exploited Children Act — to hold companies accountable and strengthen penalties for child labor exploitation. Our laws should protect kids.
Michigan’s lakes and rivers are a way of life here. Stocking nearly 19.5 million fish last year helps protect our outdoor traditions, support local tourism, and keep our waters healthy for the next generation.
Families across West Michigan have spoken up about rising costs—and I’m listening.
I’m putting your voices into action by working to lower costs and protect health coverage. As part of the Problem Solvers Caucus, I’m at the center of bipartisan conversations focused on affordability.
Walking away from international organizations is a mistake. American leadership depends on engagement, strong alliances, and showing up to solve global challenges. Isolation only weakens our influence and our security.

Proud to see West Michigan leaders stepping up to connect students with local employers and real career pathways. Programs that help students explore careers, build skills, and make connections without barriers strengthen our workforce and expand opportunity for all. buff.ly/88Id05C
Congress is considering the FY26 Appropriations Minibus, and I’m fighting to make sure it delivers for West Michigan.
This package blocks extreme policy riders and focuses on real investments that matter here at home, including public safety, clean water, and responsible innovation.
My statement on the shooting in Minnesota.
When Republicans in charge refused to listen to the American people, Democrats forced a vote to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, delivering real affordability for West Michigan families.
A new Michigan report shows Trump’s tariff strategy is making groceries cost more, squeezing family budgets & hitting low-income households hardest. It’s time for commonsense trade policy that protects jobs and lowers prices, not raises them.

The SBA’s Office of Advocacy serves as an independent watchdog for small business owners. Today, I asked Advocacy what can be done to support small businesses, including those in our food and agriculture industries, facing rising costs.
The House just voted to force a debate and vote on extending Affordable Care Act tax credits. I am proud to have supported this effort from the beginning. This is a real step in the right direction toward keeping health care affordable and preventing higher premiums for families.
Proud to see Michigan be a leader in cleaning up contaminated sites and putting land back to work for our communities. This is how we protect health, create opportunity, and build a stronger state.

Michiganders know how brutal winter can be. Record snow & ice storms slam our communities every year. Now we’re learning FEMA’s disaster response workforce faces deep cuts, risking delayed help when our families and small towns need it most.

The United States Coast Guard just intercepted a Russian vessel linked to Hezbollah’s illicit financing network. Outstanding work. Don’t mess with our coasties! 🇺🇸⚓

I visited Renew Mobility in Grand Rapids to learn about its work providing essential mobility equipment for people with disabilities. Access to mobility is access to independence, opportunity, and dignity. I’ll keep fighting to make sure everyone has access to the support they need.
I’m saddened to hear of Rep. Doug LaMalfa’s passing. He was a kind person and a dedicated public servant. My thoughts are with his loved ones and everyone who knew him.
House Republicans are pushing the SHOWER Act, a bill that would take away the Department of Energy’s ability to set efficiency standards. That means less flexibility to conserve water and higher utility costs for families.
