This week, I met with apple and blueberry growers from MI-03 to reinforce my efforts to push back against Trump’s harmful tariff proposals, which could cause fertilizer and farm equipment to skyrocket.
West Michigan produces 85% of all crops harvested in Michigan, and I can personally say that our apples and blueberries are a cut above the rest. 🫐🍎
Let's be clear: allowing children to work long hours in potentially hazardous jobs is not a serious answer to our immigration problems or our workforce shortages.
Kids should not be filling the gaps in our workforce, and bills like these will only make them less safe.

I wholeheartedly support the measure to allow proxy voting for new moms and dads in Congress.
New parents shouldn’t be punished for building their families. Period.
As a mom in Congress, I’m appalled by my Republican colleagues’ attempts to prevent new parents from being able to do their jobs in the weeks after they have a new baby.
As the first mom to represent West Michigan in Congress, I know this for sure: our kids are our future. Thanks to the young leaders from Byron Center High School who were in Washington today to share their ideas, experiences, & stories with me. Keep staying engaged & making the world a better place!
We just got the news that federal workers are being rehired, allowing sea lamprey control efforts to continue.
I'll never stop fighting for you, West Michigan.
More here. www.michiganpublic.org/environment-...
Our Great Lakes coalition made WAVES. When the Trump Administration and DOGE slashed jobs at USFWS, I joined with Rep. Dingell and called out how dangerous this would be for the Great Lakes as we fight the invasive sea lamprey. It worked.
Dr. Butter is a lifelong advocate and educator on the horrors of the Holocaust and antisemitism. She lived in the same town as Anne Frank before emigrating to the United States. It was a privilege to honor her for her resilience and commitment.

As the Co-Chair of the U.S. Congressional Caucus on the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I was honored to attend the 2025 Anne Frank Award for Human Dignity and Tolerance ceremony. This powerful ceremony recognized Dr. Irene Butter, a Holocaust survivor and University of Michigan professor.

Rural letter carriers function as a “post office on wheels” for our rural neighbors, and their services are crucial to our community. I was proud to host the MI Rural Letter Carriers Association to reinforce my support for their work & keep advocating for the postal workers who keep us connected.
At a time when Trump is cutting crucial social services for our Tribes, I’m standing strong alongside our Native neighbors to support them. Today, I spoke with the Midwest Alliance of Sovereign Tribes to reaffirm my commitment to their sovereignty and the resources they’ve been promised.
West Michiganders see the writing on the wall: Louis DeJoy caused harm to USPS and postal workers nationwide. With Mr. DeJoy's abrupt resignation, we need a Postmaster General who prioritizes our essential services and the workers who deliver for us, rain or shine. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...
Everyone deserves equal pay for equal work. Period.
This Equal Pay Day, I join my @demwomencaucus.bsky.social colleagues in fighting to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act and ensure women are paid fairly for the work they do. #EqualPayDay
This is shameful. American lives and American integrity are on the line.
We deserve qualified leaders executing our nation's most sensitive military decisions. We need a full Congressional investigation into this incident and full accountability for the American people.
Folks across the country rely on this crucial public service for medications, bills, paychecks, and countless other items that keep them going day-to-day. Our postal workers deserve our support.
We need a strong postal service to deliver for Americans. As the President and Postmaster General attempt to cut corners at the expense of hard working Americans, I’m standing strong in solidarity with our postal workers today in West Michigan.
