Meanwhile, marginalized communities are feeling the brunt of Trump's economy that prioritizes oligarchs over working families, and wondering what “Winning the AI Race” really means for them.
The unemployment rate for Black Americans has increased to 7.5%, up from 5.7% a year ago. (3/4)

In 2025 alone, we've seen over 50,000 jobs lost which were specifically cited as AI-related reductions.
Overall, total layoff announcements for 2025 have surpassed 1.1 million job cuts, the most since the 2020 pandemic.
All this, despite major companies seeing record profits. (2/4)
As Co-Chair of the @housedemocrats.bsky.social Commission on AI, I am proud to share my AI Jobs Report and subsequent launch of an investigation into major companies to gain clarity on AI's impact on American jobs. (1/4)

I signed Rep. Luna's discharge petition to force a vote on legislation to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks.
It's simple: you can't properly advocate for your district if you're busy trying to cash out.
I voted against the Republican motion to table @algreen.house.gov's articles of impeachment against President Trump.
This is a President who ignores the rules of law, side-steps court orders, and has even called for the death penalty to be used against lawmakers.
He is unfit for office.
Working Americans are losing their jobs in the tens of thousands while tech companies make record profits.
Since Congress won't pass any AI legislation that protects working families, I'm demanding clarity from these companies on these job cuts.

Trump gives his economy an "A+++++".
I'm sending out some homework this holiday season to find out if that's really the case.
Stay tuned...

Although I’m grateful the NDAA included a provision federally recognizing the Lumbee Tribe, a measure I’ve long supported, I voted no because it falls short for our servicemembers, prioritizes Trump’s partisan militarized agenda, & gives ICE and CBP access to DoD resources at the southern border.
The resolution would designate May 20 as National Women in Aerospace Day, in honor of Amelia Earhart departing on her solo nonstop flight across the Atlantic on May 20, 1932.
Women have long been trailblazers in aerospace, and Congress' recognition of their achievements is long overdue. (2/2)
As the lead Democrat on the Space & Aeronautics Subcommittee, I introduced a bipartisan resolution with Chair Rep. Haridopolos to honor the extensive contributions of women in aviation, human spaceflight, and other aerospace fields. (1/2)

I am pushing to pass legislation like the Neighbors Not Enemies Act to repeal Trump's power to detain foreign nationals.
I’m also proud to cosponsor the Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act, the ICE Badge Visibility Act, and more, and remain committed to protecting our immigrant communities. (3/3)
As if anyone needs more evidence, it's clear that this administration’s actions are an attempt to sow distrust across our communities.
Please, continue to contact my office If you see anything from Border Patrol or ICE that should not be happening. (2/3)
This is what an ICE spokesperson had to say when confronted with the fact that just a third of their arrests in North Carolina have involved individuals with a criminal history. (1/3)

The Army's plan to relocate a historic ROTC program away from Duke to UNC will make accessing these programs more difficult for both Duke and North Carolina Central University students.
I joined WRAL to discuss the issue with this move, and my response.
The GOP refuses to address its healthcare crisis, and it's having real effects here in North Carolina.
Every House Democrat has signed a discharge petition to extend the ACA tax credits. If just four Republicans join us, we can stop premiums from skyrocketing.

I’m honored to be named Co-Chair of the
@housedemocrats.bsky.social Commission on AI alongside Rep. Lieu and Rep. Gottheimer.
Trump and Republicans haven't met the moment in developing AI policy that safeguards jobs and civil rights—but we're ready to do just that.

On this day in 1865, the 13th amendment was ratified, formally ending slavery in the United States.
Today, we remember this first step in the long fight for equality, and we must continue to reject every attempt to erase this shameful chapter of American history.
70 years ago today, the Montgomery Bus Boycott began, a powerful and peaceful protest which was a foundational event for the civil rights movement.
We honor this historic moment by continuing the fight for true justice for all, today and every day.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
