Glad to join Jorge Schneider, CEO of Ion Storage Systems & Dr. Pat O’Shea of UMD at Ion’s state-of-the-art facility in Beltsville. Their cutting-edge solid-state battery work shows how academic, private, and federal partners can drive U.S. energy innovation and strengthen national security.

President Trump says he “solved inflation.” The truth? Prices are still rising—and his own tariffs are driving them higher. Families are paying more for everyday goods while core inflation stays above target. Americans deserve real solutions, not political soundbites.

I had to set the record straight with Republicans on the House Appropriations committee. Contrary to their claims, Trump’s Supreme Court upheld the Biden‑administration’s rule regulating ghost guns under the Gun Control Act. There is simply no reason that Ghost guns should be legal.
Republicans are waging the biggest attack on healthcare in our nation’s history. In Maryland alone, over 247,000 people with ACA coverage will see their premiums jump by an average of 17% if subsidies expire. At a time when costs are already crushing households, this is unacceptable.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social are pushing for a funding deal that protects programs that working Americans depend on—no shutdown, no drama. It’s time Republicans step up.
Fund the government responsibly—or face the backlash of a shutdown on their watch.
The Supreme Court’s decision to lift protections against ICE targeting in L.A. is deeply troubling. Allowing agents to stop people based on appearance, language, or neighborhood has opened the door to racial profiling and unconstitutional policing.
My deepest condolences go to the family of Dacara Thompson as they face the unimaginable loss of their loved one.

It was a privilege to host Prince George’ County Interim Superintendent Dr. Shawn Joseph at my district office to discuss the future of public education. I'm excited to work alongside our county's leaders to ensure that every student has the resources and support they need to thrive.
Spending $1 million a day for short-term crime reduction is a band-aid, not a solution. The American people deserve real safety that lasts. That means investing in long-term strategies, working with law enforcement and community programs to break the cycle of violence & keep our neighborhoods safe.
As a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, I know how critical it is to keep pushing the frontiers of exploration, innovation, and STEM education.
I spoke with Bill Nye about everything from Mars missions to inspiring the next generation.
📣 My office is still accepting applications for nominations to the U.S. Military Service Academies. If you're a student with a strong academic record, leadership skills, and a desire to serve our country, this is your chance.

Yesterday, we pressed Republicans on the Epstein files. Some of the statements were shocking & disrespectful to the brave survivors who came forward. As a former prosecutor, I’ve stood with victims seeking justice. Dismissing their pain is unacceptable. The full, un-redacted files must be released.
As a proud Harvard alum, I’m glad to see the court strike down Trump’s unlawful freeze of $2B in research funds. Harvard stood strong for academic freedom and truth.
I’ll always stand with institutions that resist political overreach.

Crime won’t be solved by policing communities with soldiers. We need prevention, intervention, and real opportunities for at-risk youth. Accountability matters—but so does hope.
On the Appropriations Committee, House Republicans voted three separate times to block Approps Dems’ efforts to release the Epstein files. Three times they sided with secrecy over transparency. Three times they chose to protect predators instead of delivering justice for survivors. Disgraceful.
Just days after Labor Day, Republicans are pushing to rubber‑stamp Trump’s plan to scrap union protections—all in the name of ‘national security.’ It’s nothing but a hoax and an attack on working people.
I stand with Congressman Pocan’s amendment to save federal workers’ right to organize.
Here in America, our civil service has been the global gold standard—driven by talent, commitment, and deep expertise.
The Trump administration’s “meat ax” approach threatens to tear that down. We need to protect a civil service that works for the American people.
We’ve had enough with the political theater—D.C. residents deserve real safety, not soldiers moonlighting as cops. We need more qualified officers on the streets and transparent public‑safety planning that restores trust. Let’s build lasting safety, not just headlines.
🚨 Maryland families are being crushed by rising costs.
No one should have to choose between food, medicine, or rent.
I’m fighting to protect SNAP, expand food access, and lower the cost of living—because dignity shouldn’t come with a price tag.

President Trump’s order to gut collective bargaining rights for even more federal workers is a dangerous assault on our democracy—and it lands hardest here in Maryland. From patent examiners to hydropower specialists, federal employees keep our government running.
