On @cspanwj.bsky.social, I called out House GOP’s reckless budget proposal that slashes nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid, puts school lunches on the chopping block, & threatens healthcare for millions, all to fund more tax breaks for the 1%. @housedemocrats.bsky.social are united in fighting back.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, staff, and all grieving this tremendous loss. Congressman Connolly's life and leadership will continue to inspire all who are privileged to serve.🙏🏽
"It doesn't get much bigger than this, if it's a Constitutional violation with respect to the Emouluments Clause, somebody needs to be looking at this NOW." I questioned the SEC Chair about President Trump's $TRUMP meme coin. The SEC must act decisively to investigate.
Democracy is under attack when court orders are ignored & people are deported without due process. Kilmar Abrego Garcia was wrongfully removed to El Salvador in blatant violation of federal protections. Justice & due process aren’t optional—they’re the foundation of our democracy.
This administration is making it harder for Americans to learn their history—slashing museum budgets, gutting the Institute of Museum and Library Services, & defunding public broadcasting. The president does not get to decide what belongs in a museum, a library or what our children learn in school.
Last week, I stood outside with our community in front of the Greenbelt Courthouse, demanding justice for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported. The Supreme Court has ruled his deportation illegal, yet the fight continues. We will not rest until he is brought home. #BringHimHome
I joined The Weeknight on MSNBc to discuss the challenges @housedemocrats.bsky.social are currently facing. The battle is twofold. We must: 1. Ensure the president follows Supreme Court orders. 2: Confront the erosion of judicial authority. Accountability at all levels is non-negotiable.
Due process isn’t a suggestion—it’s a constitutional right. Donald Trump is defying the Supreme Court and undermining the rule of law. It’s time to end the political games and bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home. Justice delayed is justice denied. #RuleOfLaw
House Republicans continue to neglect our constitutional duty to the American people: to fund the federal government and to conduct meaningful oversight of that spending. As Vice Chair of the Labor Caucus, I won’t stand by while President Trump and Vice President Musk target federal workers.
The FTC must remain an independent, bipartisan agency—not a political pawn. After Trump illegally fired 2 Democrat-appointed commissioners, I pressed Commissioner Ferguson on the need to uphold the agency's impartiality to protect consumers & ensure fair markets. #FTCIndependence #ConsumerProtection
I stand with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as they oppose President Trump’s executive order to defund NPR & PBS. Local public media is a lifeline for emergency alerts, educational programs, & independent local news. Public media strengthens our democracy. We need to protect it. 📻📺
The @energycommerce.bsky.social just advanced a Republican proposal that threatens to gut Medicaid—cutting up to $625 billion, imposing work requirements, & tighter eligibility checks. In MD, as many as 130,000 people could lose access to care. Make no mistake—the future of Medicaid is on the line.
Earlier today, I participated in a hearing on funding for the federal judiciary. We know all too well the importance of providing strong, sustained support to protect judges. But funding alone is not enough. Congress must allocate the necessary resources & recognize that our words matter.
One year ago today, my 1st bill—the bipartisan Recruit and Retain Act—was signed into law by President Biden. This legislation strengthens law enforcement recruitment & retention efforts. During #NationalPoliceWeek, I reaffirm my commitment to support those who serve & protect our communities.
Instead of acknowledging National Women's Health Week, @housegop.bsky.social & the Trump administration are proposing billions of dollars in Medicaid cuts. @housedemocrats.bsky.social remain committed to supporting women's access to healthcare, across the country. #NationalWomensHealthWeek
We have selected our winner for the Annual Congressional Art Competition. Congratulations to Ms. Ibukun Akinterinwa from Charles H. Flowers High School! Her submission, ‘Nigerian Lady’ represents her roots, which are deeply connected to a culture rich in history, meaning, and beauty.
