It is clear, President Trump has no respect for the rule of law and thinks that he is above it. No one is. The legal profession must stand together with the general public and fight back against the President's attack on our constitutionally protected system of legal representation.
I am proud to have the support of so many of my Democratic colleagues in demanding that the Trump Administration return Kilmar to the U.S. immediately. When those in power trample on due process rights and disregard the rule of law, it threatens the rights and freedoms of all Americans.
Thanks to @vanhollen.senate.gov for his leadership in the case of our constituent, Mr. Abrego Garcia. I plan to do a welfare check on my constituent in El Salvador next month. I want to be able to tell his wife & kids that their Dad is okay. #NotAboveTheLaw #DueProcess
I had the opportunity to engage with seniors in my district at Riderwood Community Center and hear about the issues that are most important to them- the economy, cuts at SSA, food prices and so much more. Seniors across my district can be assured that I am fighting for them, not billionaires.
Cuts to NASA will devastate our nation's leadership in space science and exploration. Congress must reject these cuts to NASA Science and recommit to American discovery, innovation, and leadership in space.
The Trump administration is focused on linking Kilmar Abrego Garcia to terrorism without evidence. The courts have said they should bring him back for his day in court. Present the facts, not speculation, and let the courts make the decision based on the merits.
Everyone has a right to education. Ripping away the opportunity for international students to learn with the threat of unexpected visa revocations will deter top students from around the world will come to the US and ultimately damage American competitiveness. www.cnn.com/politics/liv...
Yesterday, I joined my colleagues @VanHollen.senate.gov & @Hoyer.house.gov at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. We cannot let the Trump administration’s proposed cuts stop the U.S. from remaining competitive in space and exploration. We will keep fighting for you Goddard!
It is beyond shameful that the Trump Administration continues to target universities. The federal government does not get to decide what a university teaches, how its run, and what speech is allowed on campus. I applaud Harvard for standing up. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/u...
As Black Maternal Health Week continues, I had the privilege of celebrating mothers and mothers-to-be Doctors Community Hospital’s baby shower. To overcome the challenges that mother face, healthcare and community leaders must continue to come together to meet the needs of families.
I was pleased to join researchers, community members, and leaders for the University of Maryland Capital Region Violence Intervention Program’s (CAP-VIP) Gun Violence Summit to discuss approaches and strategies to reduce gun violence across the DMV. Families and communities deserve safety.
I’m astonished that the President refuses to take accountability for Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Here’s the truth: An immigration judge granted him protected status from deportation, this Administration deported him anyway, and the Supreme Court demanded his return. No more excuses. Bring Kilmar home.
Earlier this week, I spoke at the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government to urge the Committee to provide oversight for the reckless actions of DOGE. Congress needs to investigate the firing of federal workers, many of whom are my constituents.
The House GOP has taken another sledgehammer to the federal government and the services that it provides through programs like Medicaid. All of this damage is being done in service of billionaires like Elon Musk.
The OMH is essential to address the health disparities that impact minority groups from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer. We must continue to research and develop treatments that help the community. Why anyone wants to terminate an office designed to make people healthier is beyond me.
