This is a reckless move. Public servants at HHS work to improve our public health and undertake critical research. All these firings undermine years of hard work spent building our public health system and ultimately it will make Americans less healthy.

It’s been over 17 hours since @booker.senate.gov started speaking on the Senate floor. He’s speaking up for the everyday Americans who are being hurt by President Trump and VP Musk. We must all continue to use the tools at our disposal to stand up to this administration!
On Friday, a judge issued a ruling that halts the Trump admin’s efforts to destroy the CFPB. @housedemocrats.bsky.social continue to fight back against the admin's deliberate efforts to undermine consumer protections against fraud and other abuses. Read more here: www.nytimes.com/2025/03/28/u...
Today is #CesarChavezDay. We honor the life and legacy of the civil rights and labor movement activist, Cesar Chavez. As a Vice Chair of the @labor_caucus, it is an immense honor to uphold Cesar’s legacy by continuing the good fight to protect the rights of laborers across the country.

Republicans and President Trump promised that they would lower the cost of living. Yet they have done waged a tariff war that will ultimately harm consumers. President Trump has said he "couldn't care less" if you’re forced to pay more for the next car that you buy.

While Trump & the GOP try to erase LGBTQ+ people, I'm proud to stand with the trans community and my colleagues in the @equality.house.gov to celebrate #TransDayOfVisibility. The trans community deserves to live free and dignified lives with their rights equally protected under the law.
Attacking the Smithsonian- a precious institution- does nothing to better the lives of everyday Americans- it hurts us.
Trump’s attacks on “DEI” initiatives is an attempt to silence any institution or individual that engage in thoughtful debate about America’s racial history. The Smithsonian Museums are allow the public to learn and take part in these discussions for free.

The current administration continues to show its obsession with efficiency downsizing. Slashing the Department of Housing and Human Services from 82,000 to 62,000 employees does not accomplish efficiency or make America great again. Shameful.

Seniors are entitled to their Social Security benefits. Point Blank. I joined @msnbc’s Alex Witt last Sunday, to discuss how I am fighting for you and will oppose any legislation that infringes on Social Security benefits.
This week marks the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, which 45 million Americans now rely on for health insurance. The current administration continues to threaten the ACA, which is why we will keep stressing its importance. afro.com/affordable-c...
Transparency is essential for many of my constituents that work for the federal agencies that OPM has targeted over the last few months. @democrats-appropriations.house.gov demand transparency, NOW.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth must resign.
The collapse of Baltimore’s Key Bridge left an indelible mark on countless lives. We remain thankful for all those who worked countless hours to find the victims and continue to keep the families and friends of those we lost in our prayers.

I guess President Trump and my House Republican colleagues need a reminder: The judiciary is a co-equal branch of our federal government.
These political attacks trivialize the role of the judiciary and the rule of law in this country. And it hurts our democracy.

Today, I joined my colleagues on a letter to Subcommittee Chair David Joyce to demand he hold an oversight hearing on the U.S. DOGE Service and call on Elon Musk to testify. WE must continue to advocate for our constitutes, transparency, and statutory authority.
Read the letter below:
On Equal Pay Day, we remind the world: Women deserve equal pay for equal work. In Prince George’s County women’s earnings are generally higher than men’s compared to the national average. I am proud that my district is promoting women and closing the wage gap. 💪💰 #EqualPayDay
This morning, I met with Bill Nye and constituent advocates to discuss recent budget cuts to NASA and other crucial science programs. It's time to relaunch our country’s love for science and space. Space remains important for prosperity and innovation here on 🌎.
Republicans in Congress want to cut taxes to help billionaires with additional tax breaks. @HouseDemocrats want to help YOU by expanding the Child Tax Credit.
Ensuring that our students have future-ready skills in an ever-changing digital landscape is critical to building their pathway.
I enjoyed the opportunity to stop by #MD-04's own Joe's Movement Emporium for their Employer Partner Breakfast to discuss what we are doing for the next generation.
