Proud to speak at the @naturbanleague.bsky.social Empowerment Summit about what’s at stake for our communities. We need more affordable housing, real police accountability, and a strong defense of diversity, equity, and inclusion. I’m pushing for policies that deliver real opportunity for all.

After inspecting the Baltimore ICE facility, the question is: what happens next?
Team Maryland is taking action. @oagmaryland.bsky.social filed a lawsuit seeking records on detention conditions, and a judge blocked plans for a new ICE facility in Western MD. We’re not letting up on accountability.
Today’s tragic shooting at Old Dominion University and the suspected terrorist attack at a synagogue in Michigan are heartbreaking reminders of the dangerous moment our country is in. We need leadership that protects our communities and brings people together, not rhetoric that fuels more division.
Proud to join Senators Alsobrooks and Van Hollen in delivering over $2 million in funds for PG County youth:
✅ $1.8M for the Greenbelt Youth Center roof replacement.
✅ $450K for Bladensburg’s Juvenile Diversion & Violence Reduction program.
Homework Assignment: 💯
This morning I joined members of the Maryland congressional delegation for an unannounced visit to the Baltimore ICE facility. The conditions upstairs were so bad I said it plainly: a dog shelter is better.
We cannot allow people to be held in conditions like that.
This weekend I walked across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma to mark the 61st anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Sixty-one years ago, peaceful marchers were beaten for demanding the right to vote. Their courage led to the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Their fight moved America forward. The work continues.
Trump finally got the message and fired Kristi Noem. A change long overdue.
But don’t mistake this for the end of the fight. Removing the head of the snake doesn’t fix an agency that’s been allowed to run out of control. We still have work to do to hold ICE accountable, and I’m not backing down.
I’ve sat down with hospital presidents across my district and heard directly from families who just lost their ACA tax credits. Premiums are up. Bills are piling up.
Let’s be clear: this is the real state of healthcare. Costs are rising. Families are paying the price.
Hyattsville sent a message the White House can hear: ICE OUT.
Families, faith leaders, and elected officials are demanding transparency about this proposed ICE facility. No secret expansions in PG County. We’re standing together — and we’re not backing down.
Current and former federal employees in my district and across the country have been hurt by the actions taken by Elon Musk, Russ Vought, and President Trump.
I was proud to bear witness with @oversightdemocrats.bsky.social last week as we strategize on rebuilding the federal government.
After a long drawn out saga, a federal judge in Maryland blocked ICE from re-detaining Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Let’s be clear: Due process & justice won today. While we celebrate this victory, we know that the fight continues.

Too many lives are on the line. Today I made it clear in Congress — rogue ICE operations endanger Americans and erode trust in law enforcement. It must stop now.
A grand jury refused to rubber-stamp a politically motivated indictment pushed by Trump’s DOJ. The Justice Department must not be a retribution arm targeting political opponents.
Proud of my colleagues who stood strong and defended the Constitution.
I’m grateful to everyone who tuned in, asked thoughtful questions, and shared what’s on your mind. These conversations help guide my work in Congress and keep me grounded in the priorities of Maryland’s Fourth District.
Thank you to the more than 17,000 neighbors who joined our virtual town hall last week.

Republicans are at it again—trying to rig the system by making it harder to vote. Their so-called “SAVE America Act” would block millions of eligible voters, as Trump threatens to “nationalize” elections. Americans across the country are pushing back to defend our democracy. 🗳️✊🏽
Strong transit means stronger communities. Last week, I sat down with @wmata.com and @wmatagm.bsky.social Randy Clarke to discuss why investing in public transportation matters for workers, riders, and the future of our region.
Every Republican who claims to stand for decency must denounce this behavior clearly and publicly. Silence is complicity.
The racist post shared by President Trump depicting President Obama and First Lady Obama as monkeys is vile and indefensible.
Dehumanizing Black Americans is racist, rooted in hatred, and has no place in our politics.
TOMORROW‼️ Please join me for a virtual town hall tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
I’ll break down what’s happening in Congress, the latest current events, and what it all means for Maryland’s 4th District.
🗓️ Thursday, February 5th 💻
