We spent all night at Delaney Hall and I’m grateful to Governor Sherrill, Senator Kim, and our NJ colleagues for continuing the fight this morning. We will not stop until we get answers for the families and loved ones of those inside.
I was denied entry, but I have remained on-site throughout the night. I was told that I would be able to go inside at 8am, but ICE continues to deny entry. I will provide updates soon.
Last night I arrived at Delaney Hall to conduct an unannounced oversight visit after hearing a constituent was facing potential transfer or deportation for his role in the recent strike.
Delaney Hall represents everything that is wrong with our country under the Trump Administration. It needs to be shut down and everyone inside needs to be reunited with their families and communities. Thank you to Senator Kim for your partnership in this fight. 🤝
📍Groundbreaking for the new Hoboken Community Center food pantry! 🪏 With 1 in 7 Hudson County residents relying on SNAP, these services are vital especially amid Trump's threats to these benefits.
📍Launching the HERO Campaign inHoboken 🤝Ahead of the World Cup, proud to join Mayor Jabbour, Bill Elliot, & local leaders in supporting the launch of the HERO Campaign to keep our streets safe, combat drunk driving, & ensure everyone makes it home safely. Let's look out for one another. #beahero
What we saw confirms the worst: absolutely nothing has changed since our first visit to DH over a year ago. In fact, it's only getting worse. DH needs to be shut down - now.
We conducted a surprise oversight visit at Delaney Hall with Rep. McIver and Rep. Mejia after receiving a letter signed by nearly 300 people inside about the abhorrent conditions.
This is just the latest proof point that this Admin is completely broken & not concerned about the challenges Americans are facing. We are going to keep fighting back & will make government work for every American when we retake the majority.
I don’t know a single constituent who supports the Trump Admin taking nearly $2 billion of your hard-earned tax dollars to pay out Jan. 6 insurrectionists & to protect Trump’s inner circle.
There are zero reported Ebola cases in Kinshasa where Adriana is currently being held. The threat of a regional outbreak isn’t a reason to abandon her, it is the exact reason we need to bring her back immediately.
📍Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival 🎨🎵 Always enjoy being at one of Hoboken’s biggest community events with our incredible team to connect with so many of you on key issues. Looking forward to the work ahead.
I recently cosponsored the PREDICT Act to ban Members of Congress, the President, Vice President, and senior govt officials from placing these bets on prediction markets. This is a common sense reform and I’m proud to support it. The time to act is now.
