I met with Internet for Growth, an initiative focused on advancing policies for creators & entrepreneurs who rely on digital tools & online advertising to compete. It was great to meet with a few small business leaders from Delaware to discuss how to harness the digital economy to drive growth.
The contributions of this community are woven into the fabric of our nation, and I’m always proud to celebrate AANHPI Americans in Delaware and across the country.
May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The story of this country cannot be told without also telling the stories of AANHPI Americans who laid railroads across a continent, wrote laws that opened doors, carried our flag into space, & challenged injustice.
2/ That's why I recently led a bipartisan effort to push back on actions by the administration that would undermine the program for Americans who rely on it. We need solutions rooted in dignity and affordability that make housing more affordable, not harder to secure.
1/ The cost of living is too high, and homeownership is slipping out of reach for too many Delawareans — and recent changes to the only federal home loan program geared to rural communities would make it even more challenging for our neighbors in southern Delaware.
It was inspiring to hear from advocates with the National Down Syndrome Society. I deeply value their work supporting special education across Delaware, and I am excited to continue working on legislation that advances their goals in Congress.
Today is a solemn occasion to honor the lives of those who gave their last full measure of devotion in service to our country.
This Memorial Day, I hope you find time to remember & honor the heroes who secured for us the blessings of liberty — won through extraordinary sacrifice & courage.
3/ That’s why the Holiday Pay Act that I introduced this week with @repcasar.bsky.social would ensure that anyone working on a federal holiday is paid time-and-a-half.
2/ As we gather on Monday to honor those who served and sacrificed for our nation and spend time with family, I’ll also be thinking about the millions of people—including many in DE—working through the holiday. They’re missing moments that matter with the people they love to keep our country moving.
1/ Getting fair pay for working on a holiday is about dignity.
Paid leave is personal — and it's pro-worker, pro-family, and pro-growth. It's why I lead the effort in Delaware and it's why I'm championing it in Congress.
Donald Trump sued his own IRS then settled the case and walked away with a lifetime shield from IRS scrutiny and nearly $2 billion in taxpayer dollars for what, exactly?
Paydays for Jan 6th rioters and his personal allies.
Meanwhile, the rest of America is barely scraping by.
I recently hosted a conversation w/ USGLC about how Delaware benefits when America leads through diplomacy, partnership, & global engagement. We convened small business, nonprofit, academic, & community leaders in Wilmington to discuss how we can leverage int'l investments for Delaware businesses.
Mayor Mike Purzycki was a deeply dedicated public servant who spent years of his life strengthening the City of Wilmington and our state of neighbors.
May the light of Mike’s life and legacy continue to guide us as we continue to build stronger communities in the city and state he loved.
I enjoyed my visit to Pine Box Studios, a Wilmington-based production studio. They offer resources for film, television, and online media production to support artists right here in Delaware — ensuring Delaware’s creative economy is supported and our arts community continues to thrive.
2/ My thoughts are with the family of the three victims of this senseless tragedy and with the entire San Diego community.
1/ I am shocked and appalled at the deadly attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. This pattern of cruelty and violence against religious communities in this country is unacceptable and we must never allow ourselves to become numb to such violence.
3/ As we mark six decades of impact, I’ll keep fighting to protect and invest in programs like Head Start — because every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
2/ That includes over 1,800 children right here in Delaware — through early learning, health, nutrition, and family support that helps kids thrive and parents succeed.
1/ Today, we celebrate 61 years of Head Start strengthening communities and helping more than 40 million children and families get the strong start they deserve.
