3/ Local leaders know their communities best. I’m grateful to everyone who joined me and shared their perspectives on how we can strengthen Sussex County.
2/ We talked about housing affordability, workforce recruitment, infrastructure needs, and economic development — and how we can work together across every level of government to make progress.
1/ This week, I brought mayors and municipal leaders together from across western Sussex County to hear directly about what they’re seeing in their communities.
I will continue praying for all of the neighbors who are picking up the pieces today in the aftermath of this tragedy — gun violence has absolutely no place in our state.
I am aware of reports of a shooting at Wilmington Hospital. As we await more information, I’m praying for the patients and providers who were on site.
My dearest Delawareans, happy Separation Day.
Breaking free of the tyrannical yoke of both the United Kingdom, and the far worse Pennsylvania, was — quite plainly — one of our finest decisions.
Two hundred and fifty years later, I felt behooved to send a message to mark the occasion.
Whether by expanding access to capital, cutting through unfair barriers, or building an economy where support & opportunity is based on hard work; I remain committed to ensuring that entrepreneurs and small business owners have the support they need to continue shaping Main Streets across Delaware.
Small businesses are the backbone of Delaware’s economy and, right now, need support that can help them thrive.
Paid leave is a win-win-win. It's a win for workers, it's a win for businesses, and it's a win for our economy overall.
Durable policy solutions to the problems facing our farmers will require bipartisan and pragmatic action, and I remain committed to finding avenues to ensure the next generation can sustainably continue this proud tradition.
Agriculture is the leading industry in Delaware, and the challenges that are facing the ag community today are unprecedented — with nearly every facet of the industry under pressure, from workforce shortages to environmental challenges.
3/ A budget is a statement of values. I believe we should invest in families, seniors, children, people with disabilities, and the providers who care for them—not gut lifesaving care to fund tax breaks for billionaires.
2/ That means protecting Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act; lowering the cost of prescriptions; strengthening the healthcare workforce; and ensuring every Delawarean can get the care they need close to home. It means universal health coverage for every American.
1/ Healthcare is a right, not a privilege — and government has a responsibility to secure that right for everyone.
Congressional Republicans have made no effort to implement the commonsense, lifesaving reforms to ICE & CBP that my colleagues and I have demanded. Instead, the House passed a bill to cut another $70 billion blank check to DHS that is both dangerous and unnecessary.
Why am I not surprised?
Apprenticeships in construction trades help provide pathways to good-paying union jobs, and I was grateful for the chance to hear from attendees about how they and their families benefit from apprenticeship programs across our state.
It was wonderful to join the Building & Construction Trades Council for their annual Banquet in Newark to celebrate graduates and current participants in registered apprenticeship programs.
I recently met with Lucretia Young, State Director for AARP Delaware, to discuss protecting Social Security & Medicare, family caregivers, and cracking down on scams targeting older Americans.
I will keep working to ensure Del. seniors and older adults have the resources & support they need.
When we work to make our supply chains more resilient, we can ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective handling of every product, which is vital for consumers across our state and nation.
I enjoyed meeting with Royale Pigments and Brainerd Chemical to discuss safety in chemical distribution, products that are vital to goods and services across Delaware.
