Leader @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social has been holding the floor for over 8 hours because he—and every single Democrat—knows just how disastrous this bill is for the American people.
No matter what happens today, Democrats and I won’t stop fighting for a brighter future for every American.
Dwight Evans has dedicated over 45 years of public service fighting for fairer and safer communities — carrying Philly’s spirit and resilience in everything he does.
His advocacy and moral compass have made Congress, PA, and the nation stronger.
Wishing my friend and his family all the best ahead.
Democrats are committed to defending and strengthening Social Security and Medicare for every worker, every retiree, and every generation to come.
My statement on today’s Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports: democrats-waysandmeans.house.gov/media-center...
Social Security and Medicare are essential commitments to the American people.
The Trump Administration’s current assault on the Social Security Administration is not a glitch or a misstep — it’s a feature of the Republican playbook and is a backdoor benefit cut.
2/ And for what? To give the top 0.1% an extra $700 per day, while those making less than $50,000 get less than $1 per day.
1/ Nothing is off the table for Republicans when it comes to delivering another tax cut for billionaires.
❌ 16 million Americans will lose their health care
❌ 17 million children will be denied the full value of the Republicans' Child Tax Credit
❌ $300B will be cut from SNAP
The rich right now in America do not need a tax cut.
Republicans and I could agree on a lot more things if they agreed people making under $400,000 should get a tax relief, not those making over $400,000.

Americans are asking for lower costs. Instead, Republicans are using their spending bill to:
🔴 Close hospitals.
🔴 Defund food assistance.
🔴 Strip away health insurance.
Working people need a break — not billionaires.
Ranking Member @neal.house.gov:
2/ I've challenged presidents of my own party. That's how democracy works. We need our Republican colleagues to do the same.
1/ In less than 100 days, this administration has taken an economy that was the envy of the world & is threatening to plunge us into a recession.
The Trump Tariff Tax is tanking the economy, erasing trillions of dollars in retirement savings & increasing costs for the average household by $3,800.
This weekend, I joined hundreds of my constituents in South Hadley who stood up and made their voices heard. They want this administration and Elon Musk to keep their hands off of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans' benefits, and more.

Trump’s half-baked approach to tariffs only drives our allies into the arms of our adversaries.
There is no plan and no strategy, but he’s betting every American's savings on it.
Is this what "improving education outcomes" looks like?
This administration continues to disregard Congress's Article I spending power, and this time at the expense of our students.
All of this to pay for another tax cut for the wealthiest among us.

I know what it means to have that check show up every month without fail.
I don't know what my family would have done if it weren't for Social Security survivor benefits.
We cannot let up in the fight to protect Social Security.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Congressman Raúl Grijalva, a tireless advocate for working families & a champion for protecting our environment. More importantly, Raúl was a great man, one who loved his family & never forgot where he came from. My prayers are with his family & loved ones.

Republicans' Plan for Social Security:
🔴 Layoff SSA staff
🔴 Leave you on hold
🔴 Tell you Social Security isn't working
🔴 Take their "savings" to fund tax handouts to billionaires
A hard-earned benefit that you have contributed to over the course of a lifetime of work is not an entitlement and it's not a Ponzi scheme.
I know that firsthand. Growing up, Social Security survivor benefits saved my family.
Growing up, I don't know what my family would have done if it weren't for Social Security survivor benefits.
Social Security is an earned benefit, one that is delivered without fail every month.
Not a dime should be cut from Social Security.

This is what we knew all along.
Supporting programs that provide millions of Americans, including children, women, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, with health care, or a tax cut for the wealthiest.
The Republicans are choosing the latter.
