This is an attack on kids and families across every school district in our country. I support legislation to protect the Department of Education, and I’ll continue to use every tool at my disposal to hold this Administration accountable and block this shameful decision.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court is allowing President Trump to put his plan to dismantle the Education Department back on track and lay off nearly 1,400 employees.
The Trump Administration’s latest attack on our communities is shameful. Programs like Head Start support thousands of our nation’s children & families. The Trump Admin is weaponizing these essential services, threatening workers’ livelihoods & ripping away health care from hardworking families.
RFK Jr. cuts access to free programs for undocumented immigrants
That’s why I’m proud to reintroduce the Border Water Quality Restoration and Protection Act, which would put the EPA in charge of coordinating a whole-of-government effort to stop this pollution. We won’t let up.
This is just devastating. My heart breaks for the victims, their loved ones, and everyone impacted by this terrible flooding in Texas. As first responders continue their heroic efforts to save lives, I'm keeping the entire community in my prayers.
At least 89 people are dead after devastating flash floods slammed Texas Hill Country. Of the fatalities so far, 75 have occurred in Kerr County, its sheriff said Monday.
Nearly two and a half centuries ago, our nation was born with a promise of liberty and justice for all. Today and every day, we work to make that promise come true for all. Happy Fourth of July to everyone in #CA52 and across the nation!
Acabo de votar en contra de la Gran y Feo Proyecto de Ley de Trump, una legislación cruel y avergonzante que incluye algunos de los recortes mas grandes en atención médica y asistencia alimentaria de la historia de nuestro país. Mi declaración completa:
I just voted against Trump's Big Ugly Bill, a cruel and shameful piece of legislation that includes some of the largest cuts to health care and food assistance in our country's history. My full statement:
Republicans just voted to pass Trump's Big Ugly Bill without a single Democratic vote. They betrayed working families and will kick millions of people off of their health care - all to give tax cuts to billionaires. Beyond shameful. We won't forget this.
Leader Jeffries has been holding the floor for over five hours, laying out what's at stake in Trump's Big Ugly Bill. This bill will cut health care and SNAP for millions to pay for tax cuts for the rich. It's a TOTAL betrayal of families across the nation. NO ONE should be voting for this.
Just took to the House Floor to speak in support of a country where everyone can afford to live the good life. And in strong opposition to Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill that is devastating to everyday Americans. We will not be silenced. www.youtube.com/live/3pbFrch...
It's after midnight here in Washington and Republicans are still trying to jam through their Big Ugly Bill. Democrats are united in our opposition. NO to 17 million Americans losing health care. NO to gutting SNAP. NO to this cruelty. We're fighting this every step of the way. #KillTheBill
Every single Democrat will vote NO on Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. We just need FOUR Republicans to show some courage and join us to prevent millions of families from losing health care, food assistance, and more. #KillTheBill
17 million Americans losing health care. The biggest cut to Medicaid ever. Massive tax breaks for billionaires. Largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich. The biggest cut to food assistance in history. I'm at the Capitol to vote NO on Trump's Big Ugly Bill.
(2/3) ❌ Stop HUD from sharing personal data for immigration enforcement purposes ❌ Bar ICE from conducting raids and arrests inside courthouses and at houses of worship ❌ Block expanding detention capacity for immigrant families
(1/3)🚨The fight against the Big Ugly Bill continues. Not only does this bill rip away health care and food assistance from millions, it also turbocharges ICE’s budget for Trump’s mass deportation agenda. I’ve filed several amendments to protect our immigrant communities. I’m fighting to:
Final vote. 50-50. VP breaks the tie. One single GOP Senator could have stopped this abomination. Saved millions of parents from watching their child go hungry. Saved the lives destroyed when Medicaid disappears. They will all live forever with the horror of this bill.
🚨 UPDATE: The Senate just passed Trump’s Big Ugly Bill to take away health care and food assistance from millions while giving tax breaks to the wealthy. I’m on my way to Washington to vote NO on this shameful bill when it comes back to the House!
Breaking news: The Senate narrowly approved President Trump's massive tax and immigration bill, extending tax cuts for wealthy Americans and cutting nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid, SNAP and other programs. wapo.st/4esoFbg
