Calling all high school artists in IL-13: the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is open for submissions! I’m always blown away by the talent we have in our district and I can’t wait to see this year’s artwork!
Home care workers are vital to ensure that seniors and folks with disabilities can stay in their homes and live with dignity – their wages should reflect that. I’m proud to be an original cosponsor of legislation to guarantee minimum wage and overtime protections for home care workers!
My new bill to ensure basic wage and overtime protections for home care workers is just the start. I'll keep fighting to pass major pro-worker policies like: ✅raising the minimum wage ✅national paid leave ✅affordable child care ✅the PRO Act.
As President Trump continues to wage his war of choice in the Middle East, working people are facing skyrocketing gas prices here at home. That means every time you drive to work, to school, to church or to the grocery store, you’re paying more.
IL-13 is America’s “Silicorn Valley”– where some of the world’s most productive farmland meets top scientific minds to make genuine breakthroughs. I was excited to take part in the 7th Annual Champaign-Urbana Ag Tech Week & talk about our region’s leadership in the growing biomanufacturing industry!
This week, I held a virtual roundtable with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services and more than 50 rural health providers. We talked about how we can work together in the face of Republicans’ extreme Medicaid cuts to protect access to care for our rural communities.
This is a terrifying situation in West Bloomfield and I’m relieved that the students and staff are safe. My heart is with the congregants of Temple Israel and Jewish communities across the country. Antisemitism has no place in America and no one should live in fear because of their faith.
Standing in solidarity with the International Chemical Workers Union Council Local 12/ UFCW Local 655 who are on strike in Sauget, IL as they fight for a fair contract that keeps them safe on the job. ✊
When architect Eero Saarinen designed the Gateway Arch, it was his vision for the park to stretch across the river into Illinois — a vision that local leaders like Malcolm W. Martin fought to realize. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of the coalition carrying out their legacy.
I was thrilled to join Deputy Governor Andy Manar in Champaign for a conversation about biomanufacturing! I’ve always said that Central and Southern Illinois is America’s “Silicorn Valley” and our region’s leadership has only grown since we secured the iFAB Tech Hub designation.
Excited to join @repwesleybellmo.bsky.social and the Gateway Arch Park Foundation this afternoon to announce first steps to expand Gateway Arch National Park into Illinois! This project will bring opportunity, energy, and investment to the Metro East.
I’m proud to receive a 💯 on the Alliance for Retired Americans legislative scorecard! Whether it's advocating for the Older Americans Act or fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare, I’ll always work to ensure our seniors can thrive during their golden years.
I’m proud that my team has helped park districts in Champaign, Springfield, and Grandview get state funding for projects and upgrades! With federal grants uncertain under the Trump Administration, I met with local leaders to talk about how we can ensure our communities get the resources they need.
The 2026 Congressional Art Competition is underway! Open to all high schoolers in IL-13, this contest is an opportunity to have your art displayed in the U.S. Capitol. Submissions are due Friday, April 17th. 🎨
Happy International Women’s Day! Today is a special day to celebrate the incredible women who strengthen our communities. Together, let’s keep fighting to ensure every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential.
I’m honored to receive the Equal Rights Champion Award from the ERA Coalition! I will always stand up for women’s rights and fight to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, which would codify gender equality in our Constitution.
