Fortunately, here in Maryland, the state has stepped up and provided new protections to federal employees who need assistance keeping the lights on. You can learn about these programs and more at our office’s resource guide: elfreth.house.gov/services/imp...

I’ve joined @beyer.house.gov in leading 53 of my colleagues to urge utility companies to suspend late penalties & utility shutoffs for our federal workers & contractors during the shutdown so those providing crucial services to millions of Americans don’t need to worry about the basic necessities.
We are now four weeks into this Republican shutdown, which means four weeks that federal employees and contractors have gone without paychecks. The least we can do is help them keep the lights and water on in their homes for their families.

If you want to support our local food banks, consider making a donation — whether that’s food, money, or simply time. You can sign up for volunteer shifts from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Howard County Food Bank or from 10 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 3PM at the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.
Thank you to the staff and volunteers at the Anne Arundel and Howard County food banks who support our neighbors on their hardest days - including throughout this shutdown. I’m grateful my team and I could play a small part today in the critical services you provide for our communities.
Thank you for inviting me to give remarks at the third annual Anne Arundel County Affordable Housing Symposium. The work ahead requires partnerships with industry, advocates, and all levels of government to make housing accessible for current and future Marylanders.
Our country is in the midst of an affordability crisis – whether it’s child care, health care or housing, our neighbors are struggling. Since my time in the State Senate, I’ve been working on solutions to expand affordable housing options – and the Chase Home has been a partner through it all.
I’m grateful to have delivered Congressional citations and copies of the Constitution and been a small part of your big day on Sunday!
Congratulations, Luke, Charles, & Samuel of Troop 835, on the distinct accomplishment of reaching the Eagle Scout rank! Thank you for your years of service to better our communities & Maryland. Only 4% of all Scouts achieve this honor, which recognizes exceptional leadership & dedication to service.
Today, my team and I are volunteering at Anne Arundel County Food Bank and Howard County Food Bank to support their crucial operations.
Prior to the government shutdown, more than half of Americans were already living paycheck to paycheck. And now - four weeks of this shutdown - many of our neighbors, including federal workers and contractors, are turning to food banks to put food on the table each day.
📱We are now one week away from the Congressional App Challenge deadline! If you’re a middle or high school student in #MD03, passionate about coding, make sure you submit your app idea before 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 30th. For more details, check out the link below.
The American people, including many federal employees, are working day after day throughout this shutdown – the least we can do is be in Washington doing the jobs our constituents elected us to do.
But rather than bringing us together to negotiate a bipartisan budget bill and to address this health care crisis, in the past 100 days, Speaker Johnson has only called us into Congress 19 of them.
Congress has known for months that government funding would run out on September 30th and that the ACA tax credits would expire on January 1st.
Calling all #MD03 veterans & families! As we approach National Veterans & Military Families Month, we want to hear from you. If you have a story from your service you want to share, fill out our interest form by midnight TOMORROW, Friday, October 24, to be part of the Veteran’s History Project.
I’ve joined veterans @houlahan.house.gov & @goodlander.house.gov & nearly 100 of my Democratic colleagues to call out Secretary Hegseth’s harmful language & demand he reinstate the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services that has been supporting our servicewomen for the past 75 years.
Yet, Secretary Hegseth and this Administration continue to question their merits and strip them of crucial resources based on blatantly false claims of gender diversity quotas and biased fitness standards.
