I have a right to freedom of speech, and I exercised that right today by voting no on a resolution that would honor a man who didn’t believe I deserved a seat at his table. It’s our table. We all have a right to be there.

If you can’t exercise your First Amendment right in this country, is it still a democracy?

WATCH @hankjohnson.house.gov on why we need the #FAIRAct to #EndForcedArbitration:
"You can't get a cellphone, or a credit card, or even a job nowadays unless you sign away your right to a jury trial because that's what every corporation is requiring."

"We will be getting to the bottom of this deprivation of the first amendment."
@hankjohnson.house.gov tells @deanobeidallah.bsky.social that Democrats will look into FCC Chair Brendan Carr if they win back the house in 2026.

FBI Director Kash Patel is hiding, shielding, and protecting pedophiles. He needs to answer for it and stop trying to take credit for his predecessor's work.
My heart and prayers go out to Charlie Kirk’s wife, 2 small children, and the rest of his family and many friends. Charlie was a human being who did not deserve this. Political violence is always unacceptable.
I have supported this legislation from the beginning and signed the discharge petition last night. If there is nothing to hide, bring this to the floor now, Speaker Johnson. The victims deserve justice, and the American people deserve the truth.
Ranking Member Hank Johnson’s Statement on Trump’s directive ending collective bargaining at the Office of the Commissioner for Patents.
CDC Director Dr. Susan Monarez refused to put politics over sound science. Her questionable firing, and subsequent resignations of top CDC leaders, as we head into peak respiratory season is a recipe for disaster. Secretary Kennedy, you are a disgrace and threat to public health.
Congressman Hank Johnson’s Statement on Trump’s Announcement “Firing” Dr. Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors
While some big law firms align themselves with Trump’s agenda, organizations like the @aclu.org continue fighting for the people. I had a meeting with Andrea Young, Executive Director of the @acluofga.bsky.social, to discuss civil rights & how we can protect them during these critical times.
I had an insightful meeting with Gwinnett NAACP, discussing how we can strengthen GA-04.
As efforts to “Make America Great Again” continue, we see Black history & culture increasingly come under attack. We must remain vigilant & united in pushing back against the whitewashing of our history.
On this day 90 years ago, FDR signed Social Security into law, so all Americans can retire with dignity. 9 decades later, Social Security has never missed a payment. I am joining @housedemocrats.bsky.social to fight to protect benefits for millions of Americans.

52 years ago today, Hip Hop was born.
From NWA to Death Row to Kendrick, Hip Hop hasn't just made its mark on LA—LA has made its mark on Hip Hop.
Let's pass @schumer.senate.gov, @hankjohnson.house.gov, & I's resolution to celebrate Hip Hop’s legacy in LA & beyond!
Are we surprised? Look at this: The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office just exposed what Donald Trump & MAGA Republican's Big Ugly Law really does.
While Americans are struggling, Republicans are lining the pockets of Donald Trump & his ultra-rich donors & friends.

Mereda and I express our deepest sympathies to the family of the fallen officer, his colleagues and the Emory and CDC communities.
I had a wonderful National Night Out with local police, firefighters, and community members here in GA-04. I was proud to honor our public safety champions and thank them for their service.
Medicare and Medicaid help secure a brighter, healthier future for millions of American families. Today, as they turn 60, we are fighting to protect and strengthen these vital lifelines.

Had to stop @hankjohnson.house.gov from incriminating himself.
Artists should not be held liable solely for their lyrics or creative works in a court of law. Let's pass the RAP Act to protect artists’ freedom of expression.
