Four years ago, @housedemocrats.bsky.social honored my friend John Lewis by passing the Voting Rights Act in his name. He gave everything for our right to vote. We must continue that fight and never let extremists threaten the legacy of those who fought and died for that right.
Grateful to the organizations who invited me to speak at the Congressional Delegation Forum. When we do fix Medicaid after Republicans gut it, I promise to make it better and ensure it protects healthcare and dignity for all — especially the LGBTQ+ community.
No parent should feel 'ouch' at the register while buying school essentials. 👇🏾
Farms can thrive right in the city of Chicago!
Urban Growers Collective’s work goes beyond growing food—it's about cultivating health, building community, and planting hope right here at home.

President Trump: You are not welcome in Chicago. Sending the National Guard endangers Black communities already overpoliced & under-invested in. If you cared about saving lives, you'd pass gun safety laws & fund community violence intervention.
As students head back to school, making new friends & memories, let's prioritize their safety. Have you secured your gun? I've joined @carson.house.gov & @mcbath.house.gov to introduce the Gun Safety Incentive Act to help prevent gun violence in our schools and communities.
As Chair of the @cbc.house.gov Health Braintrust, I won’t stop fighting for clinically diverse research. Clinical trials are a catalyst for change, and they deliver medical breakthroughs that should serve everyone.
The supreme court's decision to cut programs that diversify research grants at the NIH will weaken our nation's ability to innovate and leave historically marginalized communities behind.
Grateful to the young adults of Danville, who are turning their community's pain into a powerful push for gun violence prevention.
Their recent town hall & recommendations to the Danville City Council are a testament to their courage and leadership.
Couldn't be happier for my friend Channyn Lynne Parker, named the new CEO of Equality Illinois! Channyn's advocacy for LGBTQ+ healthcare access and proven leadership are exactly what Illinois needs to move forward. I'm excited to see Channyn’s vision in action!

That’s a wrap on the Barn Hall!
Thank you to the farmers and food security advocates who joined me in conversation. Your stories and insights are invaluable, and together, we’ll work toward a more resilient and food-secure future.
Enjoying a great lunch and round table discussion with local small business owners at Beans & Barley Brews during today's farm tour.
The meal came from the farm and mill I just visited — it’s truly farm to table!
Next stop: Janie’s Mill to see their incredible field-to-flour operation. They blend modern methods with historic processes.
(Check the hair net! It’s my new look 💁🏽♀️)
My next stop is Janie’s Farm Organic, a multi-generational family farm that uses innovative technology to grow healthy, organic grains.
Their commitment to the land is inspiring.
Kicking off the day with a visit to Urban Growers Collective to learn about how they are investing in the local food economies through urban farming, job training, and education.
This is right in Chicago!
Touring farms and hosting my annual Barn Hall today.
I'm grateful to our farmers for sharing their challenges and priorities. I'll take what I've learned back to Washington to fight for the resources farmers need and deserve.
Stay tuned to check out where I go!
President Trump's "Big, Ugly Law" cut funding for SNAP and Medicaid to give tax breaks to billionaires.
This puts hundreds of thousands of our neighbors at risk of losing food assistance, worsening our state's food insecurity crisis.
President Trump is turning DC into a war zone.
Crime in DC has been at an all-time low, but now, Trump has reversed gun violence prevention efforts and thrown more police in the mix.
It’s simple: more guns don’t stop gun violence.
