Great conversation with the NASA Rhode Island Space Grant Consortium about the power of STEM education and research. Investing in STEM isn’t just about learning—it’s about driving innovation, boosting Rhode Island’s economy, and keeping the U.S. ahead in space and technology. 🚀✨
🚨 I just voted NO on the House GOP’s disastrous budget — a plan that slashes health care, guts education, and cuts food assistance—all to hand trillions in tax breaks to billionaires. Rhode Islanders deserve better. See my full statement.
Real people. Real lives on the line. The GOP’s budget guts health care and education, and hands trillions to the rich. I’m standing with my colleagues today to amplify the voices of those who will be impacted—and to make one thing clear: we won’t stay silent.
Disabled veterans have sacrificed so much. We must always have their backs. Met with Disabled American Veterans to discuss ways to improve benefits, better healthcare, and paths to employment. We owe our heroes nothing less.
House Republicans’ proposed $880 billion in Medicaid cuts would devastate community health centers—putting care, jobs, and lives at risk. At Wood River Health in Hope Valley, I met with providers to discuss what’s at stake.
Rhode Island farmers are being left in the lurch by Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s chaotic firing of USDA employees. Musk and his interns in DC should get out from behind their computer screens and talk to farmers to learn why gutting the USDA is a bad idea.
First, Elon Musk & his minions took over Treasury payment systems, wreaking havoc on funding for health care, the environment, and foreign aid. Now they’ve seized control of Social Security’s payment system. Your Social Security belongs to you—they need to back off now.
Trump and Musk’s illegal power grabs are hurting working people. They’re gutting Medicaid, public education and the VA all to pay for billionaire tax cuts. Today thousands of people showed up at the State House to say we are ready to fight back.
Had a blast calling Bingo at the  Johnston Senior Center today. Great games, even better company—and some tough competition!  It’s always great to spend time with the seniors who make Rhode Island’s 2nd District special and to hear what’s on their minds.
Gutting the CFPB and tanking a rule that keeps medical debt off credit scores is unacceptable. I’m leading my colleagues in saying loud and clear: Protect this consumer watchdog & protect RIers from the crippling weight of medical debt.
Trump/Musk have gutted the USDA – & RIers are paying the price. I sat down with fired  USDA workers based in RI to discuss how RI farmers & small businesses are going to bear the brunt of service interruptions. This won’t lower the cost of food - in fact, it'll do the opposite.
Closing the Department of Education would devastate Rhode Island’s schools. Fewer teachers, overcrowded classrooms, slashed programs, and weaker career training—hurting students and our future workforce. We must fight back. www.providencejournal.com/story/news/p...
100 souls were lost 22 years ago today in the Station Nightclub fire—a horrific tragedy that left a mark on West Warwick and Rhode Island. We honor the victims & first responders who ran into danger. In the ashes, the strength of our state shines through.
Trump’s plan for the U.S. to take control of Gaza is reckless and immoral. We cannot risk US lives on yet another nation building exercise, especially one that would mean the forced displacement of millions of people. I am joining 144 of my colleagues to stand in opposition. READ:
