Ahead of Memorial Day Weekend, I stopped by Raleigh National Cemetery to pay my respects to our brave service members who lost their lives in the line of duty.
I also took a moment to honor Raleigh's own Millie Dunn Veasey, who served our country honorably during WWII.
House Republicans passed a bill to gut funding for Medicaid for more than 13 million Americans and food assistance for 16 million children.
But this is just the beginning. Now, the bill heads to the Senate. We will keep up the fight to protect Americans from the GOP tax scam.
Wake County - Thank you for showing up last night!
It was a long night fighting for North Carolinians, but I was glad to start it off by speaking with 5,500 constituents at my Telephone Town Hall. Thank you to Rep. John Larson for joining.
There is no place for hateful, antisemitic violence in our country. My thoughts are with the victims of last night's horrific attack, their families, their loved ones, and everyone shaken by this tragedy.
House Republicans have officially done the unthinkable.
Their budget is so cruel and so extreme that it will strip children and seniors of their health care and food assistance in order to pay for tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.
🚨 I'm still at the Capitol while Republicans try to push through their tax scam that will gut funding for health care and nutrition assistance.
We won't back down. @housedemocrats.bsky.social will stay up all night to protect our people from the GOP's cruel and horrible plan.
When we talk about budgets, we're talking about values.
This one says tax cuts for billionaires matter more than hungry children, people with disabilities who depend on care, and parents working full time to support their families.
I can't vote for those values.
The proof is right here -- the Republican budget will force cuts to seniors' health care.
Their budget just keeps getting worse.
The Republican budget puts billionaires first and other Americans last.
Cutting Medicaid and food assistance while giving tax breaks to the wealthy isn't necessary. It's a choice.
We can and should do better.

House Republicans tried to jam through the GOP Tax Scam in the dark of night – but House Democrats are fighting back to expose and stop this disastrous bill.
@scanlon.house.gov explains why Americans can’t afford these devastating cuts to health care and food assistance.
Trump's chaotic tariffs are already hurting North Carolina families, and he could trigger the largest tax hike on working Americans in history. If he won't stop, Congress must reassert control.
Congressman Connolly was a kind man, a fierce fighter, and a great public servant, representing the people of Virginia with integrity and decency.
I will greatly miss him, and my thoughts are with his family, friends, and staff.
At this very moment, Republicans are trying to pass a bill that would gut funding for Medicaid. Who would that really hurt?
Children, people with disabilities, and seniors in nursing homes.
Supreme Court justices are the only federal judges without a binding code of ethics. We need to change that.
I'm joining @hankjohnson.house.gov to introduce the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act because Americans deserve a court that lives up to its responsibility.
TOMORROW at 8PM join me and Rep. John Larson, an expert on Social Security, to discuss critical federal benefits and other critical issues affecting you.

House Republicans are so ashamed of the GOP Tax Scam that they are planning a 1 AM committee meeting tonight to jam it through Congress.
In today's Democratic Daily Download, @repmcgovern.bsky.social breaks down what's in this ugly bill and what Democrats are doing to stop it.
Putin's aggression towards the Ukrainian people cannot be rewarded, and I hope Trump makes no concessions.
At the Kyiv Security Forum I sent a simple message - America will not abandon Ukraine.
THIS WEEK: Join me and Rep. John Larson on Wednesday at 8PM to discuss Social Security, Medicaid, SNAP, and any other issue on your mind.

This is a big week in Congress.
House Republicans are trying to pass their bill to cut Medicaid for 13 million Americans and take food from the hungry through SNAP cuts.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social will stand for all Americans by opposing their terrible bill.
Trump and his administration are blatantly violating the constitution by trying to end birthright citizenship.
