Yesterday, House Republicans passed a bill to rescind funding for lifesaving programs that fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic and help people around the world access food and clean water.
This bill will kill people.
We'll keep fighting against it as it heads to the Senate.

And that isn’t the parade’s true purpose. The whole thing is just a spectacle to boost Trump’s fragile ego. But Republicans aren’t even going, even Speaker Mike Johnson said he won’t attend. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...
It’s embarrassing, and none of this should be happening. 6/6
I've heard from people in uniform that they don’t like flaunting our force this way and think it’s political. They’re right.
I’m the proud son of an Army veteran, I have great respect for the Army and those who served. This is not the way to honor its 250th birthday. 5/
This isn’t happening in a vacuum. We’ve seen Trump defy court orders, escalate tensions, and deploy the military into communities over the objections of state and local leaders.
We saw what happened to Senator Padilla yesterday. 4/

Donald Trump has not been shy about expressing admiration for dictators, and recently threatened to respond with ‘heavy force’ against anyone who dares to exercise their constitutional right to protest -- regardless of whether or not they are peaceful. 3/

Like Trump's deployment of the military in L.A., it’s a crazy waste of taxpayer money: as much as $45 million for the parade and $16 million in damage repair.
This as they close Social Security offices, fire public safety officials, and cut essential services “to save money.” 2/
Tomorrow our region will be the scene of a costly display of military force held on Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. This will shut down key roadways and our airport. 1/

Years ago I urged Trump not to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, our best shot at blocking Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
I warned that withdrawal was a tragic strategic mistake. Had he listened, this might have been prevented.
The Administration must do all it can to keep us out of this conflict.

If that’s what they do to a United States Senator with a question, imagine what they can do to any American that dares to speak up. We will hold this administration accountable.
Another disgraceful episode in a long train of abuses from a thuggish administration that has repeatedly incited and encouraged violence. What happened to @padilla.senate.gov today is horrifying, and we stand with him. This incident must be investigated, and everyone involved held accountable.
Kristi Noem went to Los Angeles to help this Administration inflame and escalate a problem they are causing.
Now she has the audacity to condone violence against a United States Senator for daring to ask her a question in his state. This is beyond the pale.
Rather than apologizing and trying to resolve a problem she helped create, Kristi Noem is now lying about what happened and making it worse. This is unacceptable behavior from a Cabinet official. Noem clearly does not have the credibility or integrity to continue serving.

Senator Alex Padilla is a good man and principled public servant.
The brazen and aggressive manhandling of Senator Padilla by the Trump administration is a sickening disgrace.
Anyone who assaulted the Senator should be held accountable.
No one is above the law.
I support restoring a nuclear deal to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons – no matter who is president, and diplomacy is the right way to do that.
Israel should not bomb Iran, and American foreign policy must be directed at doing everything possible to prevent war.

BEYER: Isn't this embarrassing?
BESSENT: You seem not to have seen the economic data. GDP growth has been quite substantial
BEYER: GDP growth is half what it was last year, sir
BESSENT: Job growth is solid
BEYER: Job growth is a third what it was last year, sir
Under questioning from @replindasanchez.bsky.social, Secretary Bessent just testified under oath to @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social that "we are in the midst of constructing" this "deal" with China.
Very much at odds with what the Administration is saying elsewhere.

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
