Congressional Republicans are intentionally adding unnecessary bureaucracy to Medicaid to rip healthcare away from low-income families—all to give another handout to billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
It’s sinful.

#WATCH: Subcommittee on Housing & Insurance RM @cleaver.house.gov at today's hearing:
"The United States faces a severe housing shortage... I'm very interested in how we can work together to expand safe, decent, & affordable housing options that protect residents." | www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7lw...
Last night, Republicans took another step forward in their effort to rip healthcare away from nearly 14 million Americans to give another handout to billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
@housedemocrats.bsky.social will never stop fighting to block this ludicrous legislation.
Although President Trump backed down and paused some tariffs, America’s tariff rate is still higher than any time since WWII, and it’s important to understand how much his tariff taxes are costing hardworking families.
That’s why I joined @raskin.house.gov to introduce the Truth in Tariffs Act.
Kit Bond was a superb statesman, an exemplary public servant, and a dear friend to myself and Missourians across the Show Me State.
I extend my deepest condolences to the Bond family as they grieve this colossal loss.
My full statement here:
The GOP budget will rip healthcare away from nearly 14 million Americans & raise costs for millions more.
It will take food assistance away from millions of kids, seniors, veterans, & people with disabilities.
All to give another handout to billionaires like Elon Musk.

Thankful to all those who showed up to stand in solidarity with civil servants who provide essential services to our communities throughout #MO05.
We’ll keep standing up and speaking out against the dangerous cuts coming from Elon Musk and the Trump administration.

In the United States, regardless of their political party and for obvious reasons, no president should be allowed to accept a $400 million gift from a foreign nation.
This is brazen corruption—and Congress and the courts must not allow such blatant disregard for the rule of law to move forward.
The only winners in the Republican budget scheme are billionaire donors like Elon Musk who will receive huge new tax breaks.
Everyday Americans will pay the price by having their healthcare ripped away, food taken off their table, and essential services gutted.
For months, Republicans have lied about their plans to cut nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid.
As CBO makes clear: if the GOP moves forward with their budget proposal, nearly 14 MILLION Americans will be kicked off health insurance to pay for more tax cuts that benefit billionaires like Elon Musk.
The American people will not stand by while the Trump administration and unelected, unaccountable billionaire Elon Musk undermine workers and democracy alike.
This weekend, I stood with hundreds of Missourians in support of federal workers in #MO05 and around the country.
I was honored to join Harvesters and members of NALC for their Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive this morning, where we provided nutritious meals to Missouri families.
I’ll always stand with local organizations as they continue their work to support the most vulnerable members of our community.
Every community across the country is facing a housing affordability crisis, including rural America.
That’s why Rep. Waters and I are fighting to invest in federal housing programs that lower costs and combat housing instability in rural communities nationwide.
Ranking Member Maxine Waters, & Subcommittee on Housing & Insurance Ranking Member @cleaver.house.gov sent a letter to the House Appropriations Committee requesting critical funding to support Americans living in rural communities amid the growing housing & homelessness crisis.| tinyurl.com/54zj86be
Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV—the first American Pope!
As Catholics around the globe celebrate this joyous occasion, may God grant Pope Leo XIV the strength, courage, and humility to serve and defend the most marginalized and vulnerable in the world today.
As Democrats have been warning, Republican cuts to Medicaid will rip healthcare away from millions of American families.
Their budget scam will raise costs on working class families while leaving kids, parents, and seniors without the care they need.
It’s shameful.
Grateful for the opportunity to sit down with representatives from Independence this week to discuss infrastructure improvements, economic development opportunities, and local projects across the city.
Together, we’ll keep working to invest in Missouri families, workers, and small businesses!
Public Service Recognition Week is a time to recognize and give thanks to the civil servants who have devoted their lives to serving our communities.
I hope you’ll join me in thanking our public service workers in #MO05 and around the country!
As climate change exacerbates extreme weather events—which are costing the nation billions every year & driving up insurance rates—Congress must take action to manage climate-risk.
I spoke to a panel hosted by Moody's about the urgency of investing in mitigation & lowering insurance costs.
Families were already struggling to get by—and then President Trump enacted the largest tax hike on American consumers in decades through his tariff taxes.
It’s time to end this disastrous experiment and focus on bipartisan investments that support working families!
While the GOP is working on the largest cuts to Medicaid & food assistance in history, @housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting to protect these services for American families.
I just signed this discharge petition—and I hope a handful of Republicans will join with us to protect Medicaid and SNAP!

Alignment stats consider only votes where a clear yes/no majority existed for the legislator's party. Cross-party marks divergence where the vote matched the opposite party majority. ↔ indicates cross-party divergence.
