Another provision not getting much attention that Republicans cut from the funding bill at the direction of the wealthiest man in the world — the SUPPORT Act, bipartisan legislation key to fighting the opioid epidemic.

This week, my office joined VIA and the FTA to announce a $268 million grant we secured to support the VIA Green Line project – the first rapid transit corridor in our region!
This is one of the biggest public transit grants for our region and I was proud to make the case for the funding.

I can’t believe almost 200 years after a Mexican woman died in Texas, I’m the journalist who got to investigate her story. This started with a tip I got about potential grave desecration of a historic unkept Mexican cemetery in Comal County, north of San Antonio.

A border wall investigation from @texastribune.org:
At least 1/3 of TX landowners approached by the state have refused to let it be built on their properties. That’s forced the state to build on ranches in the middle of no where, or erect sections full of gaps.

What movies do you want to see in the National Film Registry? Share your favorites with me in the comments. 5/
These new films tell complex and sometimes difficult stories – showing Latinos as heroes and villains, hard-working immigrants and goofballs, space travelers, and so much more. Together, they show the talent and creativity that Latinos bring to the screen. 4/
For 2024, I’m thrilled that FOUR of our nominations — Mi Familia (1995), American Me (1992), Up in Smoke (1978), & Spy Kids (2001). I’m also excited that the National Film Preservation Board selected Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), which features the iconic Latino actor Ricardo Montalbán. 3/
For the last four years, my office has submitted annual nomination lists of great Latino movies that should be preserved for generations to come. Earlier this year, we got hundreds of great suggestions from movie fans who were excited to share their top films. 2/
Exciting news for movie fans! Today, the Library of Congress announced that FIVE new Latino-led movies have been added to the prestigious National Film Registry. 2024 is a record-breaking year, with the most inductions of Latino and Hispanic-led films in the Registry’s history. 1/

This new FCC boss (Brendan Carr) will be significantly worse than the last Trump FCC boss Ajit Pai. Even Pai refused to leverage government authority to harass broadcasters critical of Trump.
Carr has no such reservations.

No women will lead a House committee for the first time in two decades after House Republicans revealed their list of committee leaders for the 119th Congress. No people of color were selected, either.
Mr. Ventura is a history teacher at NISD’s Jones Middle School. He is passionate about breaking down barriers, expanding horizons, and ensuring that school is a warm and welcoming place for all. Congratulations! 2/
Yesterday I had the honor of joining Humanities Texas to present Mr. Lorenzo Ventura with the Linden Heck Howell Outstanding Teaching of Texas History Award. 1/
My team and I had a lot of fun celebrating San Antonio’s 30th Annual Mariachi Extravaganza last weekend!
Mariachi music has been a beloved part of Mexican-American culture for generations. This year's Extravaganza was full of terrific performances from talented students and professional musicians.
Team Castro was glad to join Pin Oak Senior Housing residents for their holiday party!
Seniors, my office is here to help you with any issues you may run into with Social Security benefits, VA claims, or other federal services. Give us a call at 210-348-8216.
Great news for the Westside!
After months of work by my office and others in the San Antonio delegation, the House of Representatives has authorized full restoration and flood prevention measures for Martinez Creek - creating beautiful outdoor spaces for generations of families to enjoy.

BREAKING: The Trump Administration is preparing to allow ICE to detain undocumented migrants at schools, hospitals, places of worship, weddings, and funerals.
This is insane. meidasnews.com/news/trump-a...
Thank you to Stop US Arms to Mexico for visiting my office to discuss action to stop the flow of U.S. guns across our borders.
For years, guns trafficked from the U.S. have armed the cartels and fueled violence and instability. Passing my bill – the ARMAS Act – would be an important step forward.
Congrats to all on a record-breaking year, and best of luck at the awards! 2/
