Smart tariffs can work for the US economy but arbitrary ones make things expensive and hurt Americans. Trump's broad tariffs will sour ally relationships and lead to higher prices, fewer jobs, and economic growth grinding to a halt. Don't take my word for it: here's what American leaders think. 🧵
Firing the entire staff of LIHEAP is an attack on everyday Americans struggling against rising energy costs. LIHEAP helped over 300K households in Pennsylvania stay warm and keep energy bills low last season. I call on HHS to reverse the firings, protect our families, and restore LIHEAP.

Ranking Member @adamsmith.house.gov outlined 3 concerns @democrats-armedservices.house.gov have w/Trump and his NatSec advisors failing to recognize the serious implications caused by their discussion of attack plans ahead of military action on the unsecured Signal app.

Thanks to the CHIPS Act, Inflation Reduction Act and smart trade policy, there's been a surge in American manufacturing investment in the last few years. Trump ran on lowering prices. It's hard to see how these "reciprocal" tariffs will deliver on that promise and continue the growth Dems spurred.
Hegseth used Signal to share attack plans with a reporter. Next we find out Waltz has been using a personal Gmail account to conduct government business. Today, Politico reports 20 Signal+ chats among National Security officials. When will the recklessness stop, and the investigations begin?
Wait, wait. Don't tell me Donald Trump doesn't like Cookie Monster!

Having kids is a 24/7 job.
But the voices of new moms like Rep. Brittany Pettersen and their constituents matter.
It’s unacceptable that leadership wants to silence their voices.
2/2 Speaker Johnson, stop playing games: Let's pass this proxy voting bill (allowing new parents to vote remotely) and then start putting kitchen table legislation on the Floor.
Do your job so I can do mine.
1/2 Republicans just canceled votes for the rest of the week because they are Big Mad they didn't get their way. I thought they were the party of family values, but I guess they're the party of refrigerator values, since that's all we've voted on in the last week. 🧵

You pay your fair share in taxes. You have earned your Social Security benefits. We cannot allow Elon Musk and Donald Trump to take them away. House Democrats are fighting back at today’s hearing. Watch @HouseDemocrats at 3pm: www.youtube.com/live/5g6aP8T...
He is still going strong! I applaud Senator Booker and thank him for his passionate and determined defense of our Constitution and our nation.
I was honored to attend the inauguration of
@wcuofpa 16th President Laurie Bernotsky. For 30+ yrs, she has diligently served the WCU community. Now with higher ed institutions under attack, Pres Bernotsky gives me hope that academic freedom will be defended with courage, compassion and commitment.
Had I not been silenced, I would have continued my questioning of FBI Director Patel to urge him to do his job and investigate this national security breach. He should be joining all of us in demanding accountability but he's more interested in balls and strikes, I guess.

Trump is destroying workplace protections.
We helped lead a letter to Trump urging him to reinstate the two EEOC Commissioners he unlawfully fired.
We will keep fighting for women & their safety:
As I have said repeatedly, if I had shared classified information when I was in the Air Force like Secretary Hegseth, Director Gabbard and National Security Advisor Waltz did on Signal, I would have walked my resignation into my colonel's office and expected to be relieved of duty immediately.
I had the pleasure of joining @katebolduan.bsky.social on @cnn.com this morning before the worldwide threats hearing.

Today I joined my House Armed Services Committee colleagues in calling on Chairman Rogers to convene a hearing immediately into the Signal chat national security disaster.
