As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and think of our Pacific ʻohana who are still impacted today, let’s recommit ourselves to nuclear disarmament, not repeating the mistakes of our past and ensuring nuclear weapons are not a part of our future.
Attended the UH’s Red Hill Registry Launch this weekend & spoke about how our response to this tragedy, and support for those impacted, must continue for generations. With victims spread out throughout Hawai’i and the world, this data collection is critical to make sure we are meeting their needs.
More pictures from Hawai’i Food Drive Day at both Windward City & Waterfront Plaza. Proud to support our friends and ‘ohana who work so hard to combat food insecurity as we face cuts to food banks & safety net programs like SNAP. Mahalo!
1 in 9 people in Hawaii rely on SNAP/EBT to keep from going hungry. Recent cuts I fought against will hurt keiki to kupuna. A big mahalo to Amy Miller & her team at the Hawaii Food Bank & all their volunteers for coming together to keep people fed.
I got a firsthand look at the devastation the coffee borer beetle can cause. As the primary coffee producer in the US, it's important that we fight for our local coffee farmers—because a lot goes in to your morning cup of joe. Mahalo to Kauai Coffee Company for walking me through their farm!
Proud to stand with Hawai‘i Teamsters Local 996 on the picket line in support of workers at Airgas fighting for fair wages and better working conditions. I’ll continue to advocate for workers' rights and stand in solidarity with those who deserve respect and fairness.
Meet Chyson, a summer intern who shared his experience at P3I with me. P3I connects local students & professionals with valuable work opportunities in the DOD & local companies, helping build skills for the future. Mahalo to the Hawaiʻi Defense Alliance & host organizations for making this possible!
Honored to stand with IATSE and all of the creative hands who make our stories come to life. As Trump attacks public media, arts funding, and union rights, we won't back down. We will continue to fight for your jobs, your dignity, and your voice—because our stories matter. Mahalo!
Come talk story with me while I give a sneak peak of my D.C. office! Growing up in Hawai'i with trailblazers like Patsy Mink, Daniel Inouye, & Daniel Akaka, they showed us it wasn't just about them—it's about lifting each other up. Now, as proud AANHPI's, we carry that legacy forward.
Teamed up with HSTA & ACLU to present another "Know Your Rights for Educators: Immigration Enforcement" webinar before the start of the school year. Mahalo to our teachers who go above and beyond to make sure our students feel safe at school.
A special mahalo to NOAA, NWS, our tsunami warning centers, & all first responders on call to ensure that lives were safe & accounted for in the midst of the tsunami warning. Moments like these are why we fight in Congress to ensure you have the funding & resources needed to keep people safe.
On today's Questions for your Congresswoman, Izeck asks me about the Trump administration's impact on kamaʻāina. Between Republicans' cruel healthcare cuts and Trump's thoughtless tariffs, we face real challenges. But I'm fighting every day in Congress to protect Hawaiʻi from these harmful policies.
I asked Ag execs if gutting EPA’s Office of Research and Development helps their industry. Silence. President Trump's EPA cuts are yet another political shell game aimed at attacking scientific research and reducing protections for human health.
On today's Questions for your Congresswoman, Riley raised two concerns that I worry about, especially as a mother: school safety and climate change. In Congress, I am fighting every day to make sure our schools are safe from guns and our keiki can inherit the āina we grew up in. Mahalo, Riley!
I was honored to be recognized with APIAHF's Policymaker Award. While Republicans chose to slash critical healthcare services, we as working Asian-American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islanders will continue to fight & not rest until our communities have access to quality healthcare.
Proud to support Rep. Cisneros' amendment to protect cultural student clubs at military academies. Clubs like the Asian-Pacific Forum are not divisive indoctrination or ideology—they're a way for cadets wearing the same uniform to connect with each other. That's what helps make a cohesive military.
Felt like Lafufu (who exudes lethality and readiness), was the best choice to join me today in the House Armed Services Committee for the NDAA Markup. Ready to fight for our service members and military families across the country, while also spreading a little aloha in the anteroom!
On today's Questions for Your Congresswoman, Olivia asks me about the two biggest barriers facing our keiki: Hawai'i's high cost of living & high cost of education. We should be driving down costs of living and education, not starting trade wars & attacking public school funding. Mahalo, Olivia!
Busy weekend in Kauaʻi attending the Back to School Bash at the Kukui Grove Center, speaking at the Kauai Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, stopping at the Kauai Farmer's Market, & joining AARP to discuss Social Security on its 90th Anniversary. It’s always a privilege to connect with our Kauaʻi ʻohana!
