Their learning, rooted in culture and stewardship, is exactly why I’ve pushed to strengthen federal support for charter schools, so programs like this can grow and thrive. Mahalo to the students and educators who made this visit so meaningful!
Spent time with the incredible students at Mālama Honua Public Charter School, learning from them as they shared their hands-on projects—from preparing ʻulu for school lunches to turning turmeric into juice and soap.
And we must de-escalate immediately: ICE and CBP need to get out of Minneapolis before there are more injuries, shootings, and deaths in our communities.
We cannot keep giving a blank check to Kristi Noem and DHS.
The killings of Renee Good & Alex Pretti are devastating tragedies and absolutely indefensible. We cannot let this spiral into more bloodshed. We need fair, thorough, unbiased investigations with local & state law enforcement fully involved. The truth must come out & people must be held accountable.
I’m grateful to have played a part, alongside many others, in helping ensure their service was finally and rightfully honored.
These young men answered the call to serve even after being stripped of opportunity because of who they were — a powerful reminder that while justice may be delayed, it does not have to remain denied.
Deeply honored to attend this ceremony recognizing seven Nisei soldiers whose courage & sacrifice went unacknowledged for far too long.
Mahalo to the incredible Kuakini team for their dedication & for welcoming me so warmly.
Grateful for the chance to visit Kuakini Medical Center and learn more about how they’re modernizing while continuing to care for Hawaiʻi’s families, now and for generations to come. Kuakini has long been a trusted part of our community and a place so many families rely on for care.
I am holding a town hall on Hawaiʻi Island (Waimea) on Saturday to discuss policies affecting Hawaiʻi, address concerns about the Trump administration, and answer questions from community members.
RSVP at bit.ly/waimeatownhall. I look forward to seeing you there!
This is unacceptable. We must protect SNAP, feed our families, and hold those responsible accountable.
That cost share is a tax on people. That's hundreds of millions of dollars states and counties won't have for health care, education & housing.
We don't penalize the Department of Defense over their error rates. And they've never passed an audit! What the Big Ugly Bill passed on to states to pay is simply a rounding error in the defense $1 trillion budget.
In Hawaiʻi, a small loaf of bread now costs $8. Families are struggling just to put food on the table. 🧵
Always enjoy going to the Hawaii United Okinawa Association Installation & Uchinanchu of the Year celebration! Filled with family, friends, comfort food & music—it reminds us that in difficult times, we can always lean on each other and our culture.

“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On MLK Day, we remember the life and legacy of one of our nation’s most inspiring leaders and recommit ourselves to the pursuit of equality and justice for all.
Honored to share this special moment with fire-impacted families becoming first time homebuyers via the County’s Hoʻokumu Hou First-Time Homebuyer Program. Glad to celebrate this next step in rebuilding lives, hope, & stability on Maui. Happy home shopping and mahalo to all moving recovery forward.
Aloha Lahaina 🤍 Glad to visit and see recovery taking shape—From Front Street seawall repairs to restored gathering spaces and new homes for healthcare workers & families. Always moved by this community’s strength, resilience, and hope.
That is the difference between families staying or leaving, between our keiki growing up here or saying goodbye. We must act now so our ʻohana can live, work, and thrive at home.
