The alleged misbehavior of one conservative influencer does not justify sending troops into Portland or the withdrawing needed federal funding. Our local law enforcement officers are well equipped and able to handle any unlawful activities. 🧵

This will mean higher energy bills for Oregonians and the entire country, and a weaker grid.Oregonians want cleaner, cheaper energy. They don’t want an Administration that takes a political hatchet to lawfully awarded projects. This will hurt families, undermine energy security, and harm the economy.
Doing this during a shutdown shows that it’s about politics, not economics or reliability.
Families are struggling with high utility bills, but now the Trump Administration is illegally terminating hundreds of affordable energy projects across Oregon and the U.S. meant to lower costs and strengthen the grid.
Wishing a meaningful Yom Kippur and an easy fast to all who observe.

TOWN HALL MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT! 🧵
And it is completely unacceptable for a federal agency to make politicized statements.
HUD is turning its back on the American people. They fired two civil rights lawyers for raising concerns about the lack of Fair Housing Act enforcement. Now HUD is blaming Democrats for the government shutdown, even though Republicans are in charge of the Administration, House, and Senate.
It's absurd that Trump is spending an expected $3.8 million to deploy the National Guard to Portland, especially during a government shutdown and when families are struggling to pay for health care, housing, and groceries.
What would you rather do with $3.8 million?
Portland is a city on the rise, where we welcome and care for our neighbors. What is dangerous is the use of outdated and false information to attack and target our city.
Donald Trump said that "dangerous cities should be used as a training ground for the military." No they shouldn't. And if he's talking about Portland, it's not a "dangerous" city.
I'm standing with @salinas.house.gov and @repdexteror.bsky.social to say we won't accept health care cuts or attacks on Oregonians by the federal government.
Dr. Joe Robertson was a true leader who was committed to building a better future. Oregon is a better place because of his work. I send sincere condolences to his family and friends.
