🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional! ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.
The Gravamen of the Disclosure

4. The gravamen of the disclosure is as follows:
a. By memorandum dated May 12, 2025 (“the May 12 Memo”), Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons authorizes ICE agents to forcibly enter into certain people’s homes without a judicial warrant, consent, or an emergency.

b. Specifically, in the May 12 Memo, the Acting ICE Director authorized ICE Agents to rely on Form I-205 (which is not a judicial warrant) to enter the residence of an alien subject to a final order of deportation, without consent, including by “a necessary and reasonable amount of force.”2c. While addressed to “All ICE Personnel,” in practice the May 12 Memo has not been formally distributed to all personnel. Instead, the May 12 Memo has been provided to select DHS officials who are then directed to verbally brief the new policy for action. Those supervisors then show the Memo to some employees, like our clients, and direct them to read the Memo and return it to the supervisor.
BREAKING: Immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to enter homes without a judge’s warrant, a memo obtained by AP says.
It's good that Trump is backing down on his brainless Greenland threats, but this did a lot of damage with our allies that could a very long time to repair. All for nothing. It is, however, building and emboldening opposition to tariffs within Trump's own party in Congress.
🚨 Trump backs down on his Greenland-related Europe tariffs threat one day after the markets tank. It is far from the first time a negative market reaction has prompted Trump to change course.
NEW: The National Weather Service has raised the winter storm threat to its highest level for Sunday for the entire DC region. This means a high threat of a high impact winter storm that causes significant travel delays, closures and threats to life and property.
Trump is abusing his authority by levying tariffs that raise Americans' prices, hurt our economy, and alienate our closest allies. Johnson and Republicans in Congress are letting him do it.
The Speaker should reread the Constitution. Article I vests "power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises" and [t]o regulate commerce with foreign nations" entirely with the Congress. Article II gives none of these powers to the President.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for last week’s Women’s Conference and an inspiring conversation with women leaders on resilience, hope, and service to our community. It was also an honor to recognize Nancy Eslick for her remarkable career with USAID!
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter From A Birmingham Jail Remembering Dr. King's life and legacy as we continue his fight against injustice everywhere it exists.
A historic day in Richmond as Virginia swears in its first woman governor! Looking forward to all that the Spanberger Administration will accomplish for the Commonwealth.
Trump has no legal authority to tariff American allies to bully them into backing his brainless attempt to seize Greenland. This is against the law, it’s a total disaster for America, and Republicans in Congress and the Supreme Court need to find their spines and stop it.
Trump says on Feb 1 he will impose a 10% tariff “on any and all goods sent” to US from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, UK, Netherlands, & Finland, increasing to 25% June 1 “until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland.”
Trump's threat to tariff any country that doesn't accept go along with his idiotic Greenland nonsense is so dumb. He's already driving some of our closest allies and trading partners into China's arms. All of this stupidity is making Americans less safe and raising prices.
Trump: And I may do that for Greenland, too. I may put a tariff on countries if they don't go along with Greenland. We need Greenland for national security.
If there happen to be any high-ranking officials in the Trump Administration who reportedly accepted bags of cash in exchange for future government services, we hope this will help clarify how they should go about filing their tax returns.
Our letter concludes, "In crafting this example, and in the interest of additional clarity, the final regulations should further explain whether and when a payment like this is illegal." We thank Treasury and the IRS for their attention to this matter.
