Federal employees are struggling because they don't know when they'll receive their next paycheck.
Instead of coming back to work to negotiate a deal to reopen the government, Republican leaders announced they’re taking a sixth week of vacation.

Donald Trump's vanity is without comparison.

Republican leaders just announced they are keeping the House in recess next week.
The SIXTH week in a row of no votes in the House.
When Donald Trump’s immigration agents storm homes, tear gas neighborhoods, and brutalize peaceful protestors, that’s not public safety – it’s authoritarianism.
Congress must immediately act to rein in these tactics. This kind of state violence has no place in our country.
Inflation just rose again for the fifth month in a row, a trend that began with Trump's crazy tariffs.
CPI rose to 3% annualized, its highest level since January.
Grocery prices rose at a 4% annualized rate.
Trump's trade wars are hurting the American people.

Thank you, @beyer.house.gov for leading this effort to help federal employees during this difficult time.

Keep an eye on the cost of your health insurance plan for next year.
It’s Day 23 of the Republican Shutdown and Republicans still refuse to come back to work to make health insurance more affordable for Americans.
They think that families won’t notice $10,000 in added costs.
"The ballroom is really the president's main priority."
Not your health care.
Not rising prices.
Not the dragging economy.
Not ending the shutdown.
Trump's "main priority" is wrecking the White House so he can build a fancy new ballroom.
The White House belongs to the American people, not to one person. Past presidents rightly consulted with Congress before construction projects.
Donald Trump taking a wrecking ball to one of America's greatest symbols is awful and illegal, and sadly also an accurate metaphor.
Much of the White House's East Wing was torn down to make way for President Trump’s planned ballroom.
“They’re wrecking it,” said political scientist Martha Joynt Kumar. “And these are changes that can’t be undone. They’re destroying that history forever.”

As food banks across the country see rising demand, it was great to support @afacfeeds.bsky.social alongside my amazing team. We packed fruits and vegetables that will help feed families in our community.
The backslide into violence in Gaza is unacceptable. The U.S. must ensure all parties end the violence, adhere to the agreement, and proceed with its next phases. These efforts must also extend to the West Bank, where escalating settler attacks are jeopardizing peace.
Using the IRS against political opponents is plainly illegal. Joining my @waysmeanscmte.bsky.social colleagues to pursue an investigation:

Criticizing Trump doesn't make you "communist," "terrorist," or "extremist," and the Speaker should be above divisive attacks on millions of Americans.
A No Kings protester in Ohio was struck by a man who drove his truck onto the sidewalk.
Trump supporters were arrested in Pennsylvania and South Carolina for pulling guns on peaceful protesters.
A man Trump pardoned was just arrested for threatening to murder Leader Jeffries.
We were told those who attended this weekend’s activities would be scary, violent terrorists who hate America but that's not what I saw.
I saw patriots who love their country, and love exercising their constitutional rights to express themselves.
Wishing everyone celebrating today a Diwali filled with laughter, love, and light!
Rather than supplying the weapon systems Ukraine needs to win, Trump is back again to calling for Russia to be given the territory it launched the invasion to win, rewarding their aggression.
His wild swings on Ukraine alienate our allies and strengthen our enemies.
Bribery. Fraud. Insider trading. Corruption. Violent crime.
Trump doesn't care.
If you're his pal he'll shut down investigations and give you a get-out-of-jail-free card.
But if you're his enemy, Trump will get you prosecuted on made-up charges.
The definition of corruption.

Beyer: I don’t like to do ad hominem attacks, but I’ve served with four different speakers. This is the fifth one—by far the weakest speaker, I think, in American history.
