A wrenching story about the people who don't know when they will eat next because Trump and Republicans are holding food assistance hostage. They need to distribute SNAP benefits immediately, and return to D.C. to work with us on a deal to reopen the government. www.texastribune.org/2025/11/05/t...
According to the Tax Foundation, President Trump's tariffs have increased taxes on American families, and it's only getting worse next year.

People are hungry right now. Today.
This administration and Trump have made the most heartless, lawless, choice to not follow the court order to distribute SNAP benefits.
In Houston, we love our restaurants and we want them to thrive. But under President Trump's trade and immigration policies, they're struggling.
Trump has refused to release SNAP contingency funds, in defiance of a court order.
But in our own community, thousands who normally rely on SNAP lined up for food distribution last weekend. Every moment Trump delays, more of our neighbors go hungry.

Tomorrow, join me at 7 p.m. CT for a virtual town hall on the government shutdown with special guests from AFGE and Community Health Choice. To join and submit questions, you must RSVP at: fletcher.house.gov/events
From tariffs that make imports more expensive to health care cuts that jack up insurance premiums to the shutdown that rips away resources at places like the Small Business Administration, Trump is making it harder, not easier, for TX businesses to operate. www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/cou...
Because our state rejected Medicaid expansion, 4 million Texans are enrolled in ACA health care. Now, it's about to be 35% more expensive.
Trump's demolition of the East Wing of the White House to build a gilded ballroom is not only an admission of his failed priorities but a powerful illustration of how this unchecked and unaccountable administration is creating lasting damage to American institutions. I joined a letter opposing it ⬇️

The president is not a king. He is not free to disregard the rule of law whenever it becomes politically inconvenient for him. The Trump administration must comply with recent court orders to fund SNAP in November for millions of hungry seniors, children, veterans and the disabled.
Unconstitutional. Un-American. Unacceptable.
Republicans in Congress can stop the insanity and interruption to essential services by ending their vacation and working with Democrats to reopen the government and protect Americans' health care. It can be done, but it takes their participation. www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/new...
🗓️ Thursday: I'll be hosting a conversation online with my special guests, representatives from Harris Health and AFGE. Join us at 7 p.m. CT on November 6 by RSVPing at: fletcher.house.gov/events

The Trump administration’s lawlessness cannot be ignored.
Period.
Glad to talk with KRLD's Barbara Schwarz about my efforts to continue funding for food assistance into November. President Trump and Republicans must stop using hunger as a weapon, and instead come to the table and work with us to reopen the government and solve the health care crisis.

Democrats always have, and always will fight for Americans’ health care.
