ICE now gets over $30B a year with the surge from Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill. That puts a domestic enforcement agency in the same spending range as major national militaries. This is an out-of-control, bloated agency getting a blank check from Congress while basic accountability is ignored.

Trump and Washington Republicans are pouring roughly $30 BILLION in extra funding into ICE this year. That same money could extend ACA tax credits and keep millions of Americans insured. They chose deportation raids over doctor visits. Cruelty over care. It’s reprehensible.

I’ve been clear for months that Kristi Noem should not be leading the Department of Homeland Security. DHS is supposed to protect the American people, not sow fear or chaos.
This is about responsibility, the rule of law, and basic respect for the people we serve. Accountability matters, and this moment demands it.
If she won’t step aside, and if the president won’t remove her, Congress has a duty to step in. I have not rushed to support impeachment. I remain concerned that House Republicans will turn it into a circus. But after the events of the last few days, a line has been crossed.

More total recklessness from Stephen Miller. Alex Pretti was an American citizen and ICU nurse, not an “assassin.” Inflaming the situation with false labels is dangerous and irresponsible. Anyone who believes in law, order, and due process should reject this kind of rhetoric.

To my Republican colleagues who know better but remain silent in the face of mounting violence and corruption, I ask this sincerely: why did you come to Congress? Was it to defend the Constitution, the rule of law, and the people you represent, or to look the other way when it becomes inconvenient?
At a moment when the country needs steady, responsible leadership that lowers the temperature, the president is doing the exact opposite. Escalation may score points with some in his base, but it undermines public trust and makes real solutions harder to achieve.

The killing of VA ICU nurse Alex Pretti — an American citizen who dedicated his life to caring for our sick veterans — is grotesque and demands full accountability. This incident requires an immediate, independent criminal investigation.
Federal agents must be held to the same standards of transparency, accountability, and respect for the public as the officers who serve our neighborhoods.
We have already seen how official statements can conflict with public evidence, and that lack of transparency only deepens public distrust. Our local law enforcement officers work every day to build trust in their communities. Right now, federal leadership is putting that trust at risk.
It cannot be handled internally by DHS or ICE. It should be led outside the federal system, with state prosecutors and independent investigators playing a central role.
