Epstein’s survivors stood in the room and faced Trump at the State of the Union, and he ignored them. He didn’t even mention the files in his speech. This President won’t take responsibility or hold abusers accountable, but I will keep fighting for full transparency and justice for the survivors.
January 6th rioters broke the law, assaulted law enforcement, destroyed property, and were convicted for their crimes. Now, this admin wants to reward them for it with our tax dollars. I introduced a bill with @raskin.house.gov & @morelle.house.gov to prevent money from going to insurrectionists.
This praising of ICE is completely rewriting what Americans have seen with their own eyes; innocent citizens shot in the streets, children separated from their parents, officers violating people’s due process rights. #SOTU
The facts: 22M Americans now pay $1,000+ more for health insurance after Republicans ended ACA tax credits. 10M more will lose Medicaid under their Big Ugly Law. All while the top 1% get huge tax breaks. #SOTU
The Supreme Court was clear: Trump’s tariffs are unconstitutional. Any attempt to justify them ignores the basic truth that Americans are already struggling to afford basic necessities, and tariffs have only made prices higher. #SOTU
Trump can keep blaming Democrats for the economy, but Americans know what the President is doing. His priorities are everything BUT making life affordable – golfing, building a ballroom, renovating the Kennedy Center.
My guest for tonight's SOTU is NC Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls. Our country's Republican leaders are taking away voting rights, both in North Carolina and Washington, D.C. We're here to speak out and call out these unlawful attempts to suppress the voices of voters.
I am sending my thoughts & deepest sympathies to the Morrisville residents displaced and injured in last night’s fire. I am grateful for local law enforcement & first responders for their swift action. My team is in touch with Morrisville officials & has offered support. abc11.com/post/morrisv...
I’m attending the State of the Union to hold Trump accountable - not to legitimize him. I won’t let him speak unchecked while families are hurting. I respect my colleague's decision to boycott, but I feel that the people of Wake County deserve to have their voices in the room.
I visited Family Promise, which provides housing and support services to families who are experiencing homelessness. There is no question that we must do more to ensure everyone can afford to have a roof over their head.
I met with the NC Rural Health Association to discuss how Trump's Big Ugly Law has raised health care costs and jeopardized rural hospitals. It's time for Republicans to put politics aside and work with Democrats to extend ACA tax credits.
It was such a joy to attend this year's Art in Living Color Exhibit in Dix Park, which displays art highlighting the experiences of people of color in the South. I was both moved and impressed by our local talent as well as the creativity of the artists on display.
Ella Baker was a giant in the civil rights movement, a mentor for the next generation, and powerful advocate. During Black History Month, I honored her legacy on the House floor. NC and our country are better because of Ella Baker.
Pam Bondi admitted she has no clue who transferred Ghislaine Maxwell to a cushy prison with perks. Not only is this troubling but it raises the question... who did? We need a full investigation into how and why this administration has allowed Maxwell to receive special treatment.
I voted against Congressional Republicans’ so-called “SAVE America Act,” harmful legislation that would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters. They know they can’t win fairly in November, so they are trying to make it as hard as possible to vote.
Today we're voting to overturn Trump's tariffs on Canada. These taxes are not only unlawful but have crippled American manufacturing. I hope my colleagues across the aisle join Democrats to protect a strong economic partnership with our North American ally.
Attorney General Pam Bondi says convicted predators shouldn't get special treatment but can't answer why Ghislaine Maxwell gets special treatment in a lower security prison. Bondi is letting Maxwell's life be easier while ignoring the survivors of her crimes.
Pam Bondi shouldn't be surprised I'm asking her questions when she is testifying before Congress. The survivors sitting behind her deserve answers on whether this administration is willing to negotiate clemency with Epstein's co-conspirator.
