Each week the shutdown drags on, our economy is losing $15 billion and millions of people are seeing their healthcare costs rise. Americans aren’t looking for their government to break records – Republicans need to come back from vacation and get to work.
BREAKING: The government shutdown entered its 36th day, breaking a record set during President Trump’s first term as impact spreads nationwide.
I’m an engineer by training, which means I know we can innovate our way out of our biggest problems – including the housing crisis. My new bill, the Accelerating Home Building Act, invests in creative solutions that speed up construction processes so more families in Oregon can afford a home.
This weekend, I spoke with @oregonafscme.bsky.social Executive Director, Joe, about how the government shutdown is making it harder for them to support their members.  Watch ⬇️
Oregonians are seeing price increases of hundreds, and even thousands, of dollars to their healthcare costs because of Republicans' trash budget. That's unacceptable.
As of yesterday, Oregonians are paying more for their health insurance and SNAP benefits aren't going out. That’s not what putting the American people first looks like. I’m calling on my Republican colleagues to come to the table and get a deal done to end this shutdown.
Today marks the start of open enrollment. As a result of the Republicans' trash bill, our health insurance payments are skyrocketing. That's the last thing we need right now.  That’s why I joined @afscme.bsky.social in speaking out to fight for affordable healthcare for Oregonians.
The President is able to find billions of dollars for foreign governments and renovation projects, but not to feed our kids. He needs to get his priorities straight.
Law enforcement officers are supposed to make our communities safer – not more dangerous. Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in demanding accountability for federal law enforcement officers who are breaking the law and using excessive force. That’s unacceptable and un-American.
My constituents are already concerned about losing their healthcare after cuts in Trump's trash budget. Now, they're staring down health insurance plans that are hundreds – if not thousands – of dollars more than last year. Healthcare needs to be more affordable, not less.
If Republicans allow SNAP funding to expire this week, they’ll be forcing millions of families to choose between a roof over their heads, food on the table, or healthcare.  That’s a choice no one should have to make.
The truth is on our side. We know Portland isn’t “war-ravaged,” we know the protests are peaceful, and we know we don’t need these troops in our city. We won’t let the President continue to lie about our city and we won’t back down.
BREAKING: The appeals court that paved the way for President Donald Trump to deploy National Guard troops in Portland while the state's legal case against the administration plays out announced Tuesday it will reconsider its decision. https://cnn.it/47tspGj
