Trump ripped up the Iran Nuclear Deal in his first term. Then he used the threat of Iran gaining nuclear capabilities as a justification for war. We need to get back to the negotiating table, block Trump’s war that taxpayers do not want, and protect American troops.
A horrific shooting in Austin early this morning outside a popular bar took the lives of three people and injured fourteen more. No one should fear facing violence on a night out. The victims and their families are in my thoughts and I am praying for the recoveries of those hospitalized.
Rather than making life affordable for Americans, the President has dragged our country into yet another war in the Middle East. When Congress returns, we must immediately vote on the War Powers Resolution to stop this war that the American people did not vote for and do not want. My full statement:
I am urging Secretary Noem and DPS Director Martin to immediately release all body-camera and dash-camera footage, along with radio, text, and phone communications from officers before and after the shooting.
One teen boy I met had excruciating stomach pain and was made to wait several hours to see a doctor—he had appendicitis. ICE cannot meet the basic needs of the children it’s imprisoning. Dilley must close and we must #FreeOurChildren.
I am devastated to hear of the passing of Nurul Amin Shah Alam. He was a refugee of the Rohingya genocide living in Buffalo, New York. Border Patrol agents wrongfully detained him and dumped him on the street in brutal winter conditions. Blind and walking with a cane, he died trying to get home.
Students who are interested in attending one of the academies are encouraged to come and meet with school representatives and alumni. This year, our Academy Day will take place on Saturday, March 7th, at the John Jay High School Auditorium from 10 AM-1 PM.
I just learned that Juana wanted to meet with me last week when I inspected Dilley, but ICE hid all the pregnant women from me. Over the weekend, ICE deported her 36 weeks into her pregnancy.
This admin has ushered in an era of corruption and lawlessness that does nothing to improve the lives of Texans or people across the country. I will continue to work to make the infrastructure of opportunity possible for all families. My statement on President Trump's State of the Union address:
I expect President Trump to raise the issue of immigration during his State of the Union address. I want him to know that his mass deportation campaign is breaking children like the little girl who gave me this drawing while I inspected the trailer prison he reopened.
